Yea, the dealer should shut that poo poo down pretty quick. But, it's hard to explain to drunk people that folding out of turn actually matters, counting your chip stack while there is 4 people waiting to act matters. Live poker is wild sometimes.

Of course, if you're a big tipper and you're dumping cash on the table left and right you can basically do everything wrong in the game and no one will say poo poo.

I'm mostly talking about poo poo like trying to gain an informational edge heads-up in a hand. do you all find that it's worth it ?

Its almost always a tell so I don't think it's worth it

Watching the episodes of HSP.. there's a hand Tom Dwan is in where Sean Perry and the guy next to him that's not JRB just yap the whole time in a "small" $100K pot. Also did it in a prior hand earlier in the episode. Honestly couldn't hear myself watching it. Way more distracting than in the Doug Polk/Hellmuth hand.

I'm not sure on cases, but I used to play with some friends that used Monte Carlo chips and they felt just like they're supposed too. So, i guess if you go for 14 gram clay poker chips it'll be just fine.

As far as cases go could just get a birdcage, it works for the casinos.

any state can legalize gambling now. that also includes poker. it all depends on your state. lots of states have had bills worming through their respective legislatures for a while now.

the biggest downside is how greedy they want to tax winnings/profits. i remember some of the bills wanted upwards of 20%, which basically makes it unteneable for anybody to make a living off it.

they love state lotteries and horse racing... so they gotta protect those assets from competition. also the casino's in the states also generally have to be negotiated with.

FWIW in Las Vegas the tax is ~24% over $5000, and if a win is 300x your original bet they give you a W-2G and afterwards, you can deduct loses etc.. depending on what gambling game you're playing the casino either withholds the tax for you or pays you it outright. just nothing is standardized at all.

also some of the online poker laws don't allow for community pooling around the states so even if your state passes legal online poker you may be stuck playing only against people from the state you live in.

lol who said they weren't?

the lawful internet gambling act in michigan for example: "The LIGA also instituted a graduated tax on adjusted gross receipts for revenue from online gambling. The graduated tax ranges from 20% on revenues of up to $4 million to 28% on revenues over $12 million."

regardless, if you're just playing poker that's also another matter. it's all very confusing regardless and you'll probably need a tax guy to figure it all out.

Read what he said, the operators are taxed, not the punter. Gambling isn't taxed at a personal level.

You're missing the point. All the tax is on the operator in the UK, and none of it is on the punter. It's taxed at the point of business. No-one was talking about opposites, or saying the US doesn't tax the bookies, they were saying in the UK only the bookies get taxed, not the person having a few bets.

Basically what Baddog said. Although reading what I posted it might have sounded like I was snapping at mfcrocker. I was just merely pointing out that the US likes to make sure everyone pays instead of just the operators.

I won my biggest cash in a tournament in Ireland but the sweetest part about it was not paying any taxes on it.

In Pennsylvania casinos pay 16% of live poker and table games earnings to state and local taxes, and I think 54% of slot earnings. I think those are the same for online gambling as well. Or at least in 2018 thats what the numbers were, they could have changed them since then.

The local card room downtown in my city is full of some of the most frustrating players, I stopped my membership there a long time ago.

They play insanely tight, they complain about play every time they lose, they're super cliquey and talk mad poo poo about others during breaks. It's like a weird bratty high school club. Imagine playing with a room full of Hellmuth-lites.

I really, really miss Asian casino poker rooms, if I had the capital and visa I would just try and go full time doing that.

Haha yeah that’s the one hand he actually admits he sort of misplayed. I think DN makes a pretty good case for all the hands hellmuth got mad about. Especially since it seems like they were all 3bet pots and he expects only the very tip top hands to call.

This is what Negreanu was saying in one of his previous streams. Someone asked him who he thought the best player(s) was currently and he said something to the effect of, 'man I don't know. It certainly isn't Hellmuth and it's not me. It's these young guys grinding solvers and playing non-stop'

In this chart

Why is something like 92s a percentage raise over J2s?
Or the big swing between k4o and K3o? Are you blocking things or has your range opened up by having the big split between the cards?

Where can I learn more about this table?

It looks like a solver output so it's trying to give you optimal plays with these hands in a specific spot. You're not seeing what's been plugged in like pre-flop action or what street we're on and the like so that chart by itself is pretty useless except as a way to illustrate what a solver output looks like.
