Ooh this looks interesting, bookmarked and can't wait to learn about history stuff. I always loved FFX, it's the last main FF game I ever played. It has one of the most actually coherent plots in the whole franchise.

Oh, you have no idea how much BBCode that'd save me. Any votes against?

Not here, ditching the special labels for original text sounds like a great idea!

At least Auron always sounds great. Hiding his face behind that big collar to dodge the lip-sync problem sure helps :v:

On a different sound topic, I'm really liking the new soundtrack! Seems like a straight-up improvement, at least so far.

I just presume it took Yuna so long cause she wasn't actually a summoner until now. Maybe it takes a while to figure out how this poo poo even works!

This was one of the three main spoilers that trolls would come into the Final Fantasy Online IRC chat and spam after X came out. If you hadn't gotten to this point yet, it all sounded too far-fetched, and if you had, but hadn't gotten to the other two points, the other two still sounded too far-fetched, so it was real easy to just dismiss them all for the newbies' sake with "It's just a dumb rumor."

What's amazing though is this spoiler comes so early. I've always liked FFX's story since it's so straightforward and coherent compared to most modern FF games, and this is a nice example. They actually give you a big info bomb to chew on early on, instead of building up to all these crazy twists and reveals getting dumped on you right near the end to try and hurriedly explain everything.

Ooh, that Mi'ihen Highroad remix really is nice!

bewilderment posted:

It's poorly explained in the game, but external media says that Calms are getting shorter over time, with the first one lasting hundreds of years.

Personally I think it's an unnecessary detail and it's enough for Calms to be variable in length. Having them get shorter would drive home the fact that this is an unsustainable system, but even other people in this game who bring up criticisms don't bring this up at all, making it feel like this was something decided after the fact.

Huh, I could've sworn I'd heard the total opposite somewhere, that calms used to be pitifully short like for only one year at best, and Braska's was actually a new record.

After all these years I just can't get over how absolutely stupid Seymour's hair is.

Pretend you didn't see it.

Even if Seymour is creepy as gently caress I always loved this scene of his a lot.

I forgot to mention how much I like Shelinda after the last update too. She's annoying but it's such a well-characterised annoying!

Blinded three people. I remember hearing the character designs for X were so outrageous they actually prompted pushback from people who felt they’d jumped the visual shark, so the suits forced Nomura and friends to reign it in in future titles.

They didn't act fast enough to save us from the horror that is Nooj :argh:

Any further will go into spoiler territory so I'll withdraw the question for now, but that reincorporating isn't an immediate process. If you ran into someone who had just been cut in half, they might be able to still talk and behave normally if they hold onto their senses

I believe those areas are completely full of fiends, so much so that people never go there. Within those areas, they form active ecosystems – part of why so many of them look like animals, they’re filling ecological niches – and they keep their numbers under control via predation.

I've always tried to get the word "necrosystem" to catch on, to describe Spira's version of an ecosystem. Have I finally found the right audience?!

That’s why fiends are so common; no one could possibly send them all. That and the necrosystems in the interiors, but I think Lulu would explain that better.

Hehe, noice.

Don't want to get too into details yet in case of spoilers, but I'm really liking how the religion and history discussion is fleshed out more in this update.

True, and understandable. But that's already been made extremely clear and his language adds nothing except the audience having to read it. It's not a great writing choice, particularly when none of the other characters tell him to knock it off or even react.

Tidus and Yuna reacted, in a sadly common realistic way. Tidus just tried to distract the guy spouting racist stuff to change the topic rather than confronting him openly, and Yuna was visibly grateful that he did even that much.

I liked the Zanarkand sim, it had some good atmosphere going... and then they introduce Yunalesca, and I just burst out laughing. Way to trebuchet me out of the moment, Square. What's the story here, did Sin attack while she was doing a porn shoot or something? This is stupid.

Yeah and Zaon too, in walks some random armored fantasy warrior in the middle of all this modern-looking society... they both looked so out of place.

I love how much Wakka is freaking out in this whole sequence. I mean, all of them have very good reason to freak out, cause they're getting in poo poo with someone real powerful. But Wakka has to deal with a whole crisis of faith on top of that. :allears:
