I'd say it's equivalent to resin models, though there are a couple of different resin materials to choose from that will change how flexible it is. I tend to print small scale, and the 6mm tank turret barrels are as fragile in resin as they would be plastic from retail. The model itself can also affect this, as a 28mm model shrunk to 6mm will have thinner components than one designed with smaller scale in mind.

As for ventilation, I find the ipa more offensive than the resin, fwiw.

Here's a quick one that's sized 32mm rounds but you could rescale. I'm sure digging around some search terms on thingiverse could find others. If you want blank bases you could easily mock up anything you need in tinkercad. I made a movement tray in like 10 minutes.

This going to sound weird, but does anyone have a use for all the waste resin printing creates? It's lovely just tossing all these support structures. I used a few to model 6mm ruins as they surprisingly come off well as fallen skyscrapers with some texture and pigments. And I know it's the same as the pile of sprues you toss when clipping plastic models, but I dunno, it feels different when you're the one making the waste.

I started using eco resin recently which makes me feel better about the waste. It’s compostable so I just leave it on the side and add it to the pile.

With filament there’s methods of recycling waste which makes getting rid of supports feel better but resin is harder to get rid of cause of how nasty some of the chemicals are.

drat I wish I'd know about this. I just got a bottle of regular grey and happily would of paid more for the eco version. Well, now I know going forward.

Been going buckwild since I got (most) of my printing issues addressed on my Photon S.

Some 6, 12, 20mm vehicles and some "Space Battle" minis for a non-SW Legion project I got going on.

I also got a small pack of the March to Hell wwII figures and I'm mixed in the results. It's fine for 15mm or 12mm like I planned on doing, but the figures are just way too chunky for anything larger. Even upscaling to 20mm was just too weird to sit next to my existing collection. Maybe if you were wholly using those figures it would work, which 60 euro-bucks for a full army's worth of stls isn't a bad idea, but even next to some of the more heroic scaled manufacturers like Warlord they would stand out.

OnePageRules' patreon / shop has versions of
(some) Space Marines
Sisters of Battle
Necrons
Tyranids
Fantasy Dwarfs
Tomb Kings
Lizardmen
(some) Skaven
and I think now they are working on some weird steampunk Empire mishmash and Demons.

Here's their free model page to give it a shot. They have a lot more on their MyMiniFactory page.

Also this guy on Thingiverse has a shitload of 40k designs for free.

Gonna attempt my first 'big' resin print tomorrow. Outside of increasing supports, hollowing + drain holes, and maybe slowing the lift speed down is there anything else I should consider?

A scaled up Grand Admiral Thrawn I plan to paint as a gift for a friend. His 28mm original for scale.

Unfortunately the back of the model has quite a few pits from support removal. Can't you make your own filler by mixing green stuff and ca glue?

If you look on Facebook there's a group that has the homebrew platoon force ratings and support lists. They got the Rebellion era ones and are tweaking a Clone Wars list now. There's also a full conversion for Combat Patrol (a different WWII platoon game) that's pretty good also. You can download that directly from that game's website.

Any advice on printing bases? These are just 40x25mm with 1mm lips around the edges but this is the third time they've failed to print. I've relevelled and even tried printing them at an angle to no avail. Don't think it's a suction issue as the base layer prints fine, it's the walls that don't form.

They're definitely out there. Mel the Terrain Tutor has been doing that for like a decade at this point. LukeAPS started that way, but a trend with these guys is to get some following then pivot to the hustle of selling their own poo poo. Which I understand, chase that bread, but it means I really lose interest in their projects if it's one big ad for something.

White primer, Vallejo specifically, is such a pain in the rear end through my airbrush I don't even gently caress with it anymore. If I'm zenithaling I just basecoat black or grey and use white ink as my shader.

I use contrast paints over an airbrushed pre-shade to paint almost the entirety (excluding metallics and effect paints) of my plague guard , including the vehicles.

Thanks for that. Never considered spraying contrast paint.

I've got an issue that's cropped up with layer separation, as seen below

I've always had some issues with support connections, to the point where light supports never, and I mean never work regardless of how small a miniature it is. The raft prints fine, the supports are there, but the contact points consistently fail unless I overdue it in support thickness. The models above are 10mm and you can see almost none of the supports are making actual connection. Is this a layer or speed setting or something else? I'd like to get it fixed as I have a big 15mm project on the horizon but I don't want half my models missing legs or arms.

I had to break out actual sprue cutters to get the supports off some 15mm infantry. I assume I'm over exposing which is baffling as I went with the community recommended exposure time (Photon S, 10s). Looks like I'll be running some tests tomorrow.

Besides the good "view public posts" tip some of the bigger 3d modelers will have links to their Thingiverese / Cults3d / whatever accounts in the "About" tab on Patreon where you can download some sample models for free before committing money.

As to the guy who was looking for Epic 40k stuff, I can't recommend OPR's models. I'm finding them too spindly for 15mm, I can't imagine going down to 6mm without having a nightmare of snapping parts.

If you are getting too many thick supports :

2. Check the support density slider. 9/10 times ‘Normal’ is fine

-then- hit auto-support.

Would people be interested in a video about it?

Yeah I would. I'd also appreciate some notes on rescale presupports. I think some have options to reconfigure supports if you rescale but I have no idea of knowing which models are actually able to do that in Lychee.

Just throwing it out there is it ever worth paying the fee for pro if I'm just a casual hobby printer? Haven't missed it so far.
