Yeah, the first gen smart meters were poo poo, and my supplier keeps saying they'll install new gen smart meters in my area any day now (this does not happen). I like the old spinny meters that went backwards if you were generating more than you were using but the power companies don't for some reason .

When (not if) the power company gets hacked, somebody can then essentially see remotely when somebody is or isn't home, since that correlates pretty well with power usage.

Maybe there's a community-driven approach if the EHRC persists in being useless fuckers. They've got nice big signs outside to stencil "no Irish" or "we are racist" or "paedophiles welcome" on repeatedly, but they keep them behind the gates. I suppose putting a few bike chains around all those big heavy gates early in the morning would be a pretty fun hypothetical that would cause no harm to anyone but the company and provide useful work for local locksmiths.

Same with religions: you only ever here of devout roman catholics / muslims / jews / hindus. You never hear of 'devout anglicans' even though there are many. Jews and Sikhs are more often portrayed as observant or practicing rather than 'devout', because there's more overt aspects of ethnicities as well as religions. I'd guess it has something to do with negative social typing of certain groups as a proxy for ethnicity, someone can be seen as 'a Catholic' or 'a Muslim' just by being a certain type of brown or Irish person without necessarily being religious, so there's a social cue for dividing between 'people who actually go to church' and 'people we don't want at Pontins'. When 'devout Presbyterian' gets used in that manner it's often as a stand in for 'miserable Scot/Ulsterman' or 'Gordon Brown' though. Borrovan posted:Anglicans are catholic

I keep hearing it and I have no idea what it means unless you are a big egg and parliament lost the majority of its high profile eggs in the corbyn years. This works for things like explaining why male seahorses can get pregnant or how pine trees can have both dongers and lady parts, but is pretty much worse than useless for explaining any human interaction outside of the one immediate case where you want a babby form, not even any of the recreational stuff preceding that. So of course they latched onto it like gospel truth and want large immobile gamete toilets.
