I just looked at the EU migration numbers and there's been some serious exodus in the last couple of months. About 15% of the EU population in Britain IIRC. I'm on my phone so I can't (be bothered to) post the graph from Financial Times where I read about it but it's something alright. Financial Times posted:About 481,000 of those departing were born in the EU, reversing an influx that began in 2004. The UK’s EU-born population is now about 3.1m.

BBC News - Covid: Helicopter flew from Salford to Preston for sandwich Like yes, I'm not exactly sad about the poor put-upon heli owner or anything, but a) how is it different from takeway in a car or on a bike, and b), if anything it's far less likely to have you come in contact with anyone than either of those.

I went to a "vicelete gymnazium" (basically a grammar school) in czech republic, which also happened to be one of the best schools in the country going by subject competitions and stuff, and had a pretty great time. Probably helped it wasn't private so there weren't really any rich wanker bullies or whatever, though over 90% of the kids had both parents with uni degrees, coming from a generation where the university attendance rate was a touch over 10%. Lots of teachers, lawyers, doctors, journalists, engineers, researchers kids, that sort of thing. I dunno I had a brilliant time in a great environment and I don't think there was anyone who really got bullied there. Also was coeducational and mainly girls (something about them doing better at admission exams at 11) which made dating much easier, was a bit of a crushing disappointment doing CS at uni in that respect TBH.

Looking at covid numbers the drop in new cases has slowed down to a crawl, almost evening out to a constant rate of new cases per week. Is a bit scary given that's before any significant loosening of the restrictions.

Oh yeah if anyone's curious my dad managed to pull through, but his lungs got pretty hosed up to the point where he can barely do anything but lie in bed all day. Can't even really say more than a word or two at a time, Apparently it's supposed to get better over the next few months/the next year. Still, glad he's alright now (as alright as can be expected, anyway).
