I'm sure most of you are blissfully unaware of this phenomenon but I have apparently clicked on one cute animal video too many on youtube and am now being bombarded with (what I can only assume is) the latest trend among pet vloggers - adding subtitles to the growls and barks of a Husky. Here are some examples. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N-BgBBmA6M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN-CIPAyHMU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNXvXddjcNY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9253Vmf22w I'm curious to read everyone's thoughts about why this is wrong and what can be done to stop it.

I have to admit I like the script on the last one. "I need to think of a reason for this character to leave the room and leave the dog alone with the steak but what... Explosive diarrhoea!"

the biggest crime of those videos is that they make people think owning a husky is a good idea and not just constantly this 24/7 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXJ7-1rEJhU

i think the algorithm goes Nature Documentaries > Animal videos > Funny animals > People subtitling their pets > People subtitling their fish > then you end up at the channel where the guy keeps a huge alligator gar in an inflatable kiddie pool

I thought by subtitling you meant naming your inbred showdog like Simeon Quash-Waterquash Prince of Courses Far-conqueror.

personally I prefer a pitbull my lil' fur-son "alpha blue" lives with me in my tent with me and my baby and is the most safest loving animal anyone could ever want and is so protective and we let him run free because dogs should.

A better owner would train them to speak well enough not to NEED subtitles

Every time I see one of those poor little dogs that shouldn't exist struggling to breathe and get around on their inadequate little legs I feel so sorry for them.

My best man at my wedding had a husky that he ended up losing shortly after his own marriage named Hondo and that dog loving owned, smart as a whip, loyal, and while he'd make 'husky noises' he never really did it out of turn or anything, just to ask to go out or if he thought he was participating in a party or something. I used to love going over to his place, because he came to know me and would come up on the couch with me for pets, at a time where I couldn't have a pet of my own, and so it was like vicarious doggin. My buddy who owned him was the big strong burly type and he cried for a few days after they lost him. Ol' Hondo was a good boy and really tilted my perception of husky's

They're such great dogs, I'd love to raise another but I have neither the yard space or the time to dedicate to properly raising one. Thankfully my mom's raising one on her 3 acre plot so I can go play with hers if I'm experiencing dog withdrawls. Definitely smart dogs too. My mom's dog will take the leash down from the hook, and nod towards the door if he wants out and someone's nearby. He's also learned that faking like he's gonna take a piss on the couch is a very good way of getting those walks if he's otherwise being ignored.
