I've seen some complaints about too much micromanagement and the economy being wonky, but that happens in a lot of management games. Including the original. Plus it sounds like they've already done a patch on the review build, so the game will probably have support and fixes unlike the original. Are they opening it up for mods?

Is there a reason to not have all your casino games set to scam tourists? Does that prevent them from distracting agents or something?

Anyone figure out what things in your base draw heat? Like can I put a bed/food/breakroom kind of deal right off the casino for my valets to chill, not connected to the main base, without it being suspicious?

Lol Symmetry's squad is just sitting at my stairs surrounded by 100 corpses while all my minions come up single file then get terrified and stuck there until they revolt. Game over I guess.

I had 90 guards/mercenaries, all armed, but they chose to come at the enemies one or two at a time. :newfap: What I need is a second henchman, but the first one I tried to get just like... wanders around my base doing nothing instead of henching. Would also be nice if guards actually stayed at their guard posts, but even the advanced one that theoretically works when not on alert does not.

Fortunately I had schemes going and the sudden decrease in pay meant I was able to hire 200 fresh minions rapidly, so game not over.

How many side quests do you have to do to get a second henchman? The first set with any of them seems to yield nothing, I'm on the second for Eli. Also anyone gotten far enough for tier 3 to unlock?

Figured it out. There are some nerds you gotta set ignore on and let roam around planting devices. I had them all tied up in the casino so they weren't doing it.

Symmetry seems the most dangerous of the super agents I have encountered so far.

Easily. Agent X doesn't do poo poo, and all the other ones have to come in through the front door so they're fairly easy to waste once you have good killzones set up. Symmetry teleports into your base with a death squad that you can't really defend against. Only thing I've found to help is having a single vault set up with a kill corridor as if it's an outside entrance, that's helped a lot. It doesn't matter that they steal stuff since you get it back when they die, just leave them alone until they emerge.

Traps seem kind of pointless now. There aren't many agents on your island at any given time, and they go full psycho the moment they get in the front door so it's just a battle.

This thing is kind of getting rocked by reviewers. I've just seen my third bad review. Of course reviews are never bad anymore, but you read between the lines and know that when they talk about it being boring, repetitive, kludgy, that they're effectively saying it's a don't buy.

I think that's a fair criticism. It's just the first game with some modernization. I loved it and love this one, but there is a lot of waiting around. I'm plowing through my podcast backlog.

I hope they'll patch it so you can do two or three side stories at once and adjust the research speed. That long, long gap between tier 2 and 3 where your scientists have nothing to do sucks. Though I guess they're trying to avoid you getting to the end of the tech tree too soon? I dunno.

At the very least you should be able to run a loot one simultaneous to the other types. I can see why running three agent hunts would get out of control, but there's apparently like 30 different pieces of loot and there's no loving way I'm spending eighty hours just grabbing those without progressing on anything else.

Looks like I might be having a game over because all my minions have suddenly decided to get stuck inside objects. I keep moving things around to free them but when I'm done, I scroll around and see more stuck in other poo poo. If I ignore it then eventually all my base items will be useless since they have stuck minions blocking anyone else from using them. Weird that I'd be 70 hours in before this started happening.

Not super motivated to start over either. 70 hours and I only made it to around 50% campaign progression and only a tiny portion of the side quests. Game really needs to be sped up.

I have a decoy corridor in the casino that just doubles back on itself, is packed with catnip level 3 doors and lethal traps. Anybody that goes in there ends up dead pretty much.

The notification I want to turn off is "there is a fire in your base" every time the fire trap goes off. I know there's a fire. That's what the fire trap does. Please save the notification for when things are actually like, on fire.

Really loving this game and finding it to be supremely addictive, but also a little too easy. I'm on normal difficulty and no investigator has made it inside my base in many hours and I haven't seen a super agent in ages, the only one that ever gives me any problems is Olga, the rest of them barely make it 5 feet into my base before they are wiped out. Maybe I'm just better at the game, but I seem to remember EG1 having a fair bit tougher super agents and more thorough investigators.

There are far fewer agents at any given time, which is part of it. In EG1 there were always like 30+ dudes prowling the island somewhere. The only time 2 gets tough is when three or four super agents activate at the same time and the base turns into a slaughterhouse for a bit.

DarkHorse posted:

Lower level and melee weapons are a trap. Once a minion picks up a weapon they won't ever trade it out. Only build ranged cabinets, and I assume it's best to only do the highest level one

Martial artists use the melee weapons. I built cabinets for those and it seemed like they prioritize those and keep the guards from picking them up, otherwise yeah, all guns.

Unfortunately guns don't seem to have any prioritization, and you can't prevent mercenaries/hitmen from grabbing pistols instead of SMGs. But if you don't have any pistols then the guards are unarmed. It doesn't seem to matter that much though, as long as most are armed properly.

Yeah as a big fan of the original I'd describe this one as okay. They could've done much better. But if you liked the first one and picked this up on a Steam sale you can have a good time with it. Just being able to reconfigure the base instead of being stuck with a dumb thing you did for expedience in the first half hour makes it a lot more playable.
