Can someone give me a summary about Glenn Greenwald? I would look elsewhere but I really don't know where.

Why does he often seem so racist, sexist, and just hateful? Isn't he supposed to be a leftist?

Why is he always on Tucker Carlson's show? Why does Tucker want him there and why does Greenwald want to be there?

Why does he hate any mention of Russia? Obviously there's a lot of links between Trump and Russia, obviously Russia meddled in the election, they are human rights abusers... Why so hostile to criticism of Russia?

What are some of his best hits that make so many people hate him?

Yeah i thought he was mostly hopelessly contrarian until 2-3 years ago, too. It might've been obvious far sooner, but I didn't follow him closely enough to see a ton either way. Last couple years though the preponderance of evidence has really stacked against him and I think the Hersh comparison is pretty apt.

Because the UK did get ahold of Assange, and then immediately the US requested that he be extradited. This should have been painfully obvious at the time by the UK's reaction to the charges, compared to how Europe usually reacts to famous people being pedophiles or rapists in other countries.

As I've already said, it's entirely possible for Assange's publicly stated fears to have been motivated by a desire to escape punishment for being a rapist, while at the same time turning out to be true. All of this "ah, but it was the UK who immediately went about extraditing him to the US, not Sweden!" means next to nothing, as far as I'm concerned, unless there existed a trick for Assange to be extradited to Sweden without being apprehended by UK authorities.

What fears even proved to be true? The US doesn't kill extremely high profile whistleblowers or leakers or the journalists they work with. That's probably for mostly pragmatic reasons rather than moral reasons, but Assange was literally one of the highest profile people involved in leaking american documents at the time and was so high profile that he was untouchable

I don't get why greenwald went with 'one iota of evidence' after, what, 12 months of trump and the far right yelling about the 'china virus' and 'wuhan flu' and obviously escalating anti-chinese/asian sentiment nationwide. If he was making some point about 'don't judge this before we have the full story' then sure, okay. Defaulting to a position that of course there isn't even a shred of evidence is just bizarre in light of the last 12 months.

Of course there is always the simple explanation

A lot of people were jerks all along and over time the stories just start to come out and eventually eclipse whatever they did to make a name. I think that's vastly more common than people suddenly becoming dipshits in middle age. Similarly, if you have a 70 year old accepting, warm, thoughtful person, they probably largely already had those qualities 30 years previously, too
