Game feels a little sluggish on ps4 and had a hard lock in a conversation just outside the room where you start, just FYI.

Some introductions and narration between dialog isn't voiced. Is that a bug? The tie was trying to talk to me when I came up with a lovely name for instance and I didn't hear it. Writing about this game makes you sound insane and I love it.

Well I can't help feeling like there's some buggy poo poo going on with the voicing at the moment. Seems every now and again whole sections of narration even independent of dialog are not being spoken.

That aside, having 1 intellect has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a game. I'm assuming that's why some of these utterly brain dead options are available. Do attribute levels work like that in this? It's hard to tell how much of it is attribute related and how much is just due to the circumstances of amnesia.

After screwing around with this for a little longer, can’t recommend for PS4. Framerate is pretty gnarly, and I looked into the voicing issue I was having. Something is definitely broken with it, because vids I’ve watched are fully VO’ed barring just the interstitial post quote lines. Have had all VO completely drop out too, apropos of nothing mid conversation. I do have it set to full, FWIW.

Aside from that, the targeting system they have for interactables is pretty bad and touchy.

Hopefully it gets a patch because it looks like a lot of fun, but definitely can’t recommend it in its current state. Apparently the framerate issues are also happening on PS5 from what I’ve read, but can’t speak to any of the other bugs I’ve encountered carrying over.

Not that specifically but there are definitely voiceover bugs where things will just stop voicing completely. Sounds like they're aware and patching it though. Can't come soon enough I'm dying to play this.

He embodies centrism to the bone. Pleasant, but passively part of the problem.

After I beat this, I’m 100% going to skim through his playthrough. I think this game was made for people like that.

This is disappointing to hear, but thanks for saving me the frustration. I was pretty hyped to finally play this, but my only option is PS4. Hopefully it’ll be patched up soon.

They were quick to acknowledge the problems, and are apparently pushing something out in the next couple days. Check in when that’s out. For what it’s worth, I refuse to play it without VO and that’s the one that screwed it up for me. I think it’s perfectly playable right now, just highly frustrating.

man this game is broken as hell on PS4. car glitch in day 3, church frozen, voices dropping out everywhere, crashes to the home screen, long spans of time where a thought catalog update just won’t trigger and the game won’t allow you to save and won’t auto save, interminably long load times moving from area to area, sound stuttering, the UI straight up not responding more than half the time. i know it’s a small indie studio, but it’s kind of mind boggling an updated port of a game that came out like two years ago would release in this state, and that basically none of the reviews commented on it.

it really speaks to how compelling and loving good the underlying game is that I’ve kept pressing on and enjoying myself, it’s definitely one of the best games I’ve ever played, looking past the state it’s in. looking forward to whenever that patch actually comes out so I can get my loving badge back

I'd love to know what the hell happened with that. My gut says they didn't want to acknowledge how bad things were on console publicly. Their tweet was like five days ago with no updates since. Honestly I went from mildly annoyed to kinda pissed the more I'm seeing how they're handling this. And the reviews are a joke. Clearly critics played the pc version. There really isn't an excuse for releasing something in this state, indie studio or otherwise. I'm not about to get all entitled gamer about this, but it really is a pretty bad look.

Not out I get. Radio silence I don't. Their acknowledgment was pretty weak and non specific. I mean it's legit broken. I'm anti crunch and pro labor and all that, but people paid for something. I can live without playing. That's no big deal there are tons of other games to get into. What I dislike is the unwillingness to say anything after that brief mention. It's kinda lovely.

this is of course exacerbated by the fact that it’s an incredible game that just doesn’t work.

FWIW this is the studio's first game and the Final Cut was a decidedly more ambitious release than the original so I'm not surprised that the messaging is a little rough at this point.

I'm not entirely sure why ambition precludes firing off a tweet when things aren't going according to plan. I mean community relations is obviously ideal in a situation like this so we can at least read between the lines for some bullshit. I'm not trying to harp on you here specifically. But man, I don't really see why anyone should be let off the hook for shipping a defective product. Even owning the fact is better than what's happening.

I'm probably feeling double burned because I seldom buy anything on release and was really looking forward to this.

Why is customer service different from coding? work is work and it's a double bank holiday.

The bit I don't get is publishing a 16 gig patch before a double bank holiday. It feels like they said March and so March it bloody is, when releasing it april 6th would've meant they had the ability to respond and get straight on to fixes.

My thoughts exactly. Like was there a contractual obligation to push it out? Why not just hang onto it. It’s a great game with a lot of critical juice behind it, but it’s really not Cyberpunk level attention we’re talking about here, I doubt anyone would have minded a delay. And to have a marquis feature—the voice acting—be so prominently hosed up in the release strikes me as even weirder. Setting aside my own frustration, how does something like that even make it through QA. Presumably they tested the PC release back in 2019. After all it came out and was mostly fine wasn’t it?

If the fascist poo poo fucks you up in a mechanical sense, I think that’s actually a missed opportunity. I’m disinclined to even play through the game on that path, but I think it would be more interesting to have it reward you mechanically, but punish you narratively. If you do it right, to my way of thinking, you can have a slow-boiled frogg effect where fascist playthroughs might look appealing initially, but ultimately lead you to personal and moral ruin. Just my $0.02.

This is probably the first game I’ve seen where I’m almost more interested in how people react to it than its actual content.

Hey guys I'm starting a new game and I'm freaking out about what build to make my character, I'm thinking of going for a 'dumb brute with a a heart of gold' build by making my stats 1 - 4 - 5 -2 with my main skill being 'empathy' or 'Volition' or maybe selecting 'endurance'.

how is this build? what builds are better? what do you recommend?

Conceptualizing your build as better or worse is the wrong way to think of it. It’s more like what elements you want brought forward more prominently. Someone else who knows the game inside and out will be able to tell you if your build matches your intent, but it’s pretty safe to say you can do what you want. The only mechanical drawbacks with attributes at 1 involve having low moral or physical health pools so you can get killed in a dialogue check if it doesn’t go your way. In that case you might have to savescum.

But this really isn’t like other games. Optimizing and gaming the system misses the point of it, really. You’ll have a good time no matter what.
