oxsnard posted:that detective testifying tells me that they're willing to feed this chud to prison for a long rear end time. I think he gets at least 10 in prison and yeah SHM is right that they'll try to say that BLM is no longer needed now since cop racism is over Yeah, every piece I'm hearing about the trial makes it sound more and more damning for for Chauvin so on the one hand I think the establishment might be wiling to throw him to the wolves to "prove" that BLM accomplished what it set out to do. OTOH it's going to be extremely funny* when they make it as obvious as humanly possible that he's guilty and he still walks and it's going to break so many brains permanently in both directions. *in a Joker sense

Vitamin P posted:Is Police Chief 'establishment'? Cause I'm liking this guy he's just 2 minutes ago made the point very well that 'an unconscious person is not reasonably a threat'. IIRC Chief is one rank under Deputy Commissioner so to use The Wire (which never mentioned "chief", I think) I think only Burrell and (eventually Rawls and Valcheck) outrank it.

Zeroisanumber posted:Idk, my law degree is from drunk-watching 90's-era episodes of Law & Order (because Lenny was the only good cop) but I think murder 2 is murder in comission of a felony so the charges feel appropriate. You're thinking of felony murder E: Not a lawyer so I may have some of this wrong but generally second-degree murder is common law murder, and then first degree is the aggravated form. Aggravating factors would be things like: specific intent to kill, premeditation, deliberation things like that. And IIRC depending on what the specific laws are where you live the method of murder can count. Like, stabbing someone might not be an aggravating factor but poisoning someone might. Or if you were lying in wait for someone, that sort of thing. christmas boots has issued a correction as of 23:07 on Apr 22, 2021 |
