I want to eat my chicken.
Well the last time I posted in the chat thread I was going thru some poo poo - managed to pull myself out of it - I looked at my usage from social media and really took steps to knock it down, I feel a lot better - Also, had a meeting with possible new client that could possibly mean kinda getting back to work, just in a different way. Things are looking up-ish

EDIT: The kid cut 4 teeth at the same time, one day to the next - we were fully prepared for a very long day of fighting naps, no eating and general bad baby behavior, but he was back to normal, napping, chasing the dog and touching everything and being adorable.

bad news is I just got quoted 600 bucks for a re-core on the radiator for my 42 - I'm going to get a second opinion before I say yes

A friend of mine didn't bother getting into the VA system when he was discharged from the Marines because he thought he was going to be a video game designer and get good health insurance. That didn't pan out, and he was struggling with Kaiser insurance in California. A couple of us twisted his arm to convince him to at least look into getting into the VA system, and he says it's so much better than Kaiser.

That said, healthcare for veterans should absolutely be significantly easier to access.

It's really dependent on your local VA. Some are much better than others.

Just got a Qnap 4 disk server from auction. 451+ with 8GB RAM and two 4TB WD Red NAS drives. All that was listed was "QNAP cloud backup storage device with cord," but I took a guess from the dust around the drive bays that there would be drives in it. Got lucky, especially with the upgraded RAM that I don't have to deal with now.

But man, that's a pretty serious ecosystem they have there, with what looks like a steep learning curve. I've got it set up and on my network, but kinda lost where to start. Does anyone have any resource suggestions?

What model and how much you steak it for? I've dabbled in it over the years. I outgrew my 4 bay HP Microserver (that I hacked to be 6 drives). Currently running a 12 bay SAS array running through a wall to my gaming PC.

My 12 year old big male cat has taken to making GBS threads on the floor. Thank god it's not pissing, but taking a dump. Since we have vinyl planking it's an easy clean but obviously not ideal.

I clean the litter daily and change it outright every couple of weeks so it stays fresh. We put another box out for him, although he always goes about 25' from his main box so it's not a distance thing. Use the big costco 50lb boxes (and have for years) so that's stable and hasn't changed. Food hasn't changed.

Took him to the vet and they just  said he's physically fine. Maybe a bit of arthritis, but nothing that would stop him from the box.

Nothing has changed in the house, we're stable.

I'm taking him to the box after he eats to see if I can get the association going again (I know eating and then crapping afterwards is common), but he is pissing in the box fine so it's not a mobility issue or anything.

Ideas?

If he's got some arthritis in the right spot, it can hurt/be hard to posture properly for the poopin' while still being able to pee just fine. Or he could just be a turd. If it's arthritis, Cosequin makes a cat formula that's recommended by vets.

Hey bike goons, I got a road bike off of BikesDirect a couple of years ago, and I’m looking for some advice on some upgrades. Overall the frame and such is fine for me, but the brakes, shifter levers, and brake levers (especially these) are all pretty crappy. I mainly just want a new barset with sturdier brake levers and shifters on or closer to the handlebars because I hate removing a hand and loving with something down by the headstock to change gears. I also want to replace my wheels with some slightly wider wheels and tires, unless I can just put wider tires on my existing wheels. I’m mechanically inclined but don’t know the first thing about reputable online retailers for parts, or making sure the parts I’m buying are compatible with my bike, and also the bike thread is large and scary :ohdear:

They are very welcoming in the bike thread but in the meantime is this a flatbar or dropbar bichael?

Interesting thought, but I doubt it.. he doesn't seem to have any discomfort when doing the deuce crouch.

I bought some of that cat attract litter yesterday and changed the box with it. So far, so good.

I was thinking about changes and one thing I can think of that has changed, the Costco litter we have always bought has changed a little bit. It doesn't clump as well as it used to. So the pee balls fall apart way more readily. So even though I clean it regularly, he may have thought the urine smell was a little too much for his delicate nose.

We'll see, and thanks for the ideas guys.

Assuming it's a real optical mouse, take care of the hole, then change the batteries.

Logitech mice mostly have a LED that goes red when the battery is low. But usually they just start loving up tracking; if it's missing clicks, either close the microwave oven you have sitting next to your desk that's been modified to run while open, or slam some new batteries in.

Hahah! I also learned today that the mouse starts missing clicks and loving up tracking on a fresh battery when my cat sits immediately between the mouse and the receiver.

It seems to be sort of a lost art now, so that price may be typical, sadly. I’m old (51), so I remember having several radiators cleaned and resoldered for a nominal fee. Haven’t tried in some years, as the only radiators I’ve had fail recently were plastic tanks, and it was the tank that failed.

The dentist warned me that due to the size of the nerve structure in my tooth I might not be out of the woods yet and god drat it they were right. My replaced filling is throbbing on and off and it extremely temp sensitive. The only options now are removal or root canal, neither of which are what I want to do. Root canal is still expensive despite insurance and I am terrified of another extraction as I am still having issues with the empty spot from the first one I had yanked.

I hate this. I never neglected my teeth, I have always brushed multiple times a day, flossed as much as I could and used mouthwash but I've been cursed with this pain for almost 20 years. I am exhausted.
