One Way Heroics (you should probably get the plus DLC also, don't buy the remake),

This game is super fuckin good btw. It's quite simple, but it's full of surprises; a simple but fun story, lots of hidden surprises, and generous with saves so it's easy to pick up and put down for a roguelike.

The remake is... Not nearly as good but an interesting curiosity if you're a fan.

There's a switch port of the original but the text is absurdly small sadly, makes it kinda unplayable.

Mix. posted:

I'm technically responding to a comment from the last thread, but Caligula Effect's switch port added a bunch of new content psp persona1 style in that it introduced an entirely new route where you side with the bad guys early into the story and they become your party instead of the normal route's party and it's apparently a completely different route tonally and thematically, which is cool and i wish more jrpgs did poo poo like this.

also they announced a second, completely standalone game a couple months ago, though god knows if we're gonna be getting it localized

I think "okay" is perfectly descriptive of it. I thought the overall design was pretty boring, every single trash area was just hallways and 1-2 guys at a time if you didn't sprint through places. It did, however, have a fairly interesting idea for mapping in a Souls-inspired game. I like that it gives you where you've been but not an actual detailed map until you're basically through an area and then it will give you the detailed map so you can see if you missed anything. A lot of the bosses seemed fairly uninspired as well, again "okay" is probably where'd I put it on a scale, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone without reservations.

That's fair. I'm kinda hoping it gets a sequel because there's definite room for improvement.

The DLC is also horse armor level apparently.

Maybe I was doing something wrong but synethik:

Felt very bulky and tedious. Needing to eject then reload might add challenge to a faster paced/harder game but since it's so easy it just feels like busywork.

It's very easy. The closest I came to dying was when I didn't realize alt tabbing didn't pause.

Looks ugly as hell

The aim penalty while moving makes every gun feel like poo poo.

I might give it another try but for a game people apparently like it was really unimpressive.

Did you adjust any difficulty modifiers? Also what class were you playing as? You were playing Citadel, right? What bosses did you fight on your run?

I like Synthetik a lot, but not because I think it's impressive. I like it because it serves as an homage to all my favorite shooting games released in the past 20 years, because the aesthetik really speaks to me, and because it scratches an itch for gambling I didn't know I had until I got into the game. Legend has it that the game started out as a simulator for bolt-action rifles and was developed in Game Maker. Synthetik is one of my favorite games ever and probably the only game I have put 150+ hours into since like Team Fortress 2 10 years ago.

I find Synthetik charming because of things like: the 'Annihiliator ANH-5' rifle fires 'ANH-Apocalyptic Rounds'. The game operates on a tier of absurdity I haven't seen in a video game before. Definitely not trying to convince you your opinion is bad but I'm interested in hearing more about it!

I didn't (there was never a difficulty menu of any kind), Breacher, I guess?, a box on legs, a tank that didnt shoot me that had a boss HP bar, a bunch of flubber, two smaller tanks and a big final boss thing.

It was very strange to me how the game wanted you to stand still but enemies were still accurate enough you wanted to keep moving, which resulted in me missing 50% of my shots. Since I was always dodging and seemed to have regenerating HP nothing came close to killing me, and the tutorial was hot garbage so I didn't really understand why say lightning randomly killed enemies.

No that's bullshit, it's more comfortable to go without the bra. It is so much less strain on your back and it doesn't hurt, I go without because bras are uncomfortable and underwire can dig into me and it pinches and it's a cumbersome nuisance. Bras help for things like when a busty person exercises and doesn't have to worry about hurting themselves with their boobs but not just casually at home, bras in general just kinda loving suck to wear.

That sounds like you have a bad fit, which is common. I felt the same way until I found stuff that fit better.
