AreWeDrunkYet posted:This is exactly the attitude that prevents anything good from getting done. Mass transit and bike/pedestrian traffic are way, way more efficient than any sort of passenger car, including electric cars. The fact of the matter is that people can't afford to move closer to their jobs (if that even is an option), public transit is absolute dogshit everywhere in the US, and people need to get to work on time and reliably. Making places more walkable and safer is great, but making it worse for people who need to drive isn't going to magically make people take public transit as long as public transit is still poo poo. Trying to blame some person's attitude on what are deeply-rooted systemic problems is dumb.

Godholio posted:The only White Castles here are on the strip or Fremont St...the one time I went the wait wasn't TOO bad (at least, drunk me didn't think so) but I'm more likely to go to Evel Pie instead. I never understood why they did that when they could (likely quite easily) make a huge killing by building a WC somewhere actually accessible. I went to the one in that casino once and wasn't really impressed, but as I've gotten increasingly stoner in recent years I could definitely appreciate a place that sells a large amount of garbage in small packages. Oddly, I like the frozen microwave sliders more than the real ones.

Godholio posted:Right? That's what CFA did last year, opening a location on Craig, and that place is always packed...but they have the multi-line thing figured out so the drive through is surprisingly fast. I'm just glad that CFAs aren't busy enough to cause traffic nightmares around them. When they opened, any road near them was packed. I don't see the appeal of them at all, even before you get to the bigotry.

Hyrax Attack! posted:Dumb question, but what incentive would the hackers have to release the info when paid? It's not like the pipeline company can file a customer service complaint and the hackers are already committing major crimes. Why not keep raising the price? In a somewhat ironic twist, if you don't actually relent when the ransom is paid, people will be less likely to pay the ransom going forwards. If you gently caress up 100 systems and ransom them for $1000 each, even getting a few people to go "I paid the ransom and they honored it" will entice other people to pay. If your goal is to be able to continue extorting money, you want people to have some trust that you'll follow through.

facialimpediment posted:The inverse is likely more true on primaries - the state/local parties are more lefty than the overall party lately. There's a particular case where the head of the NV Democrats released a pro-palestinian statement (basically "hey, Israel is bombing civilians"), then immediately got pushback from the Democratic NV Senator and the Anti-Defamation League. Three tweet-thread here tracking that stuff: Don't forget that the old guard all quit when the DSA dems won. I'm honestly impressed. Nevada continues to be a lot more progressive than I would have ever given it credit for, and I've lived here for 30+ years.

not caring here posted:I used to hit the driving range reasonably often. Never really good at it but when you had nothing else going on it was a cheap time. Cyber Tiger (awful golf game on the PS1) had a driving range where you could indeed hit that fucker with a ball, and if you did it three times it'd just explode. It's not as satisfying as it sounds.
