Rest in Peace, Jack Terricloth – front man, creative drive, and general rascal who led the messy music collective that is/was The World/Inferno Friendship Society. Unfamiliar with that band? Well: They're a big band sound meets a kid born to the late 80's punk rock scene and a hint of ska. The kind of band where there's a circle pit one song, followed by a waltz the next. A band that strived for the energy of the 20's, and lived up to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--yvt75c7sQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0XfNy5XI-A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMp0z1Ir91E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUg6ZOU5dNI From their FB: quote:We are devastated to say that our guiding spirit, instigator, inciter—the person who, to most of us, lived under the name Jack Terricloth—has left us for the astral plane. We will be working on plans for a celebration of his extraordinary life. For now, we want to thank Jack for inspiring this remarkable community—something more than simply band, family, or scene—which changed the lives of so many people in ways which are hard to articulate, and which is perhaps the most enduring part of his legacy. Please raise a glass of your choice in his memory; we shall not see his like again. It doesn't seem like people post these kinds of threads in this forum often. I wanted to, as I discovered this band more than a decade ago on this forum in a "recommendations" thread. Jack and this band meant a lot to me in the time since, and maybe to other's here as well. Can't wish rest on a restless spirit, but hope Jack's ok wherever he is now. (also, clearly, namesake for this account. I'm unaffiliated with the band, if that needs to be said).

The best way I ever heard to describe WIFS is "Cabaret Punk". Anyway this is a huge bummer, Borders is a great record, so are This Crowded Funeral and Red Eyed Soul.

Amazing live band. Sad to hear this news. His old band Sticks and Stones was good too. https://youtu.be/X_1swz7h1wU El Gallinero Gros posted:The best way I ever heard to describe WIFS is "Cabaret Punk". The live shows were wild, it'd be punk songs, but everybody was wearing ballgowns and top hats.

This sucks. The first time I saw them they had one of the best horn sections I had ever heard.

Bodyguarded for them once at Monty Hall in Jersey City two years ago. This Jack Skellington looking motherfucker had one hell of a charisma. [I think that was the only time I had to actively kick someone out of there too]
