Maybe they'll make a fantasy dlc where you can hire wizards and charge up your mana mana to cast powerful spells.

Would it be possible to play an extremely bizarre alt history where the UK handles the potato blight in a smart and humanitarian manner to minimize starvation and avoid a lot of emigration?

Makes sense. It would be pretty cool but it's not essential for the game.

I want to organize my army by lottery. You buy a ticket and the guaranteed prize is your new job in the military/navy. If you're lucky you'll become a well paid and prestigious general or maybe a cushy position as an officer but most will receive the tormenti pabulum infantry or sailor. Just think of what a great general you'd be, set up for life. Better odds than the usual lotteries!

Some of the digs and anomalies have a few random outcomes so it's not always the same. For example I think the trenchworld dig has at least three.

Watching all of your infrastructure expansion being spent around Glasgow because the capitalists are trying to make all of their clipper factories profitable would probably get tiresome after a few decades.

no, randomly generated scenarios that Paradox makes have not been good in the past. the new world generator for EU4, for example.
Their EU4 random nations setup isn't terrible, I'm not sure I would call it good and it used to be worse. Of course it still can't handle uncolonized provinces which are usually owned by a nation but has the no culture and no religion and you can't fix it without save file editing (or possibly with fiddly console commands) even after you take them over.

The new world generator also used to be worse, it's still bad but it's not horribly bad.

I think this game might be the one where the way the player is the "spirit of a country" feels weirdest to me, probably because of the "interest groups" gameplay mechanics.

Let's say you have a country which is a huge mass of plantations and farms. Aristocrats own everything, hold all political power, and run the government. The player can - with no push-back - use government funds to build a bunch of factories, creating a bunch of capitalists who can then challenge the aristocrats and remove their political power. It feels like the aristocrats should get in the way of this, but as far as I know there isn't a mechanic for that.
Don't worry, it's balanced by not letting you be socialistic without jumping through hoops. :v:
