I was a dumb liberal and enlisted in 09 because I thought things were getting better (lol no they did not) and it just pushed me further to the left. Re-enlisting was never a consideration. The money I saw pissed away on outdated garbage from the Cold War broke me, especially because this was around the time Obama Care was a big cultural debate. I vividly remember hearing shipmates (who were receiving healthcare) compare that half-hearted nonsense to full-blown socialism. That we could never afford to give everyone medicine. This was while we were spending 10-500k dollars on refurbisjed parts for a radar platform designed during the 70's. You will never find a more entitled group of people than active duty and veterans, mostly the men but sometimes the women. They will fully reap the benefits of free healthcare, free dental, retirement savings, and free housing while whining about "burger flippers" getting a whole 15 bucks an hour. They will use the most dishonest math imaginable to argue that they only get paid 5 cents an hour while receiving multiple allowances for housing and food. You cannot find a more secure job if you have zero education and you are young. Every basic need is met and while the paychecks aren't large they're largely spending money. What happens is that the military is full of ALPHA MALES who need sports cars and expensive toys, so they sign up for giant loans as soon as they get out of boot camp and then they knock someone up and have 2 kids. Then they spend their time resenting civilians who ask for higher pay because "I'm riiiisking my liiiiife and the guy at Burger King got my order wrong." They'll do this while cherry-picking pics of soldiers in combat to post on FB while they themselves are clerks or cooks. Oh, and a lot of dudes who will piss and moan about the queers eroding our morals while they cheat on their wives with women who are being trafficked abroad.

Wasn't the justification towards being sympathetic to troops that many rank and file army and navy troops were somewhat left leaning? That and that any significant revolution required support from the military. My dumbass up until a year ago was considering joining the CAF to go to medical school because they pay 100% of tuitions, until I found about the Somali Affair. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somalia_affair Which also refreshed memories of being told that the soldiers in Afghanistan were fighting for our freedom in elementary and middle school Remembrance Day Assemblies. The CAF is going through a major sexual assault scandal as well, that runs all the way up to top brass.
