I admittedly haven't watched much DDT aside from some Ibushi matches and comedy segments, but I was looking at the KoDDT brackets from past years, and what the hell happened in 2018's tournament? The brackets are a mess and names just suddenly start appearing in all different places.

Pretty sure 2018 was the first tournament where they shuffled the bracket halfway through, later tournaments would do this before the semis while 2018 did it before the quarters. The final 8 were still all the people that won their second round matches, just in spots that don't make sense when you plot them all on the same bracket. Last years bracket shuffle didn't make a difference because the semis randomised into the exact same pairings, but if you look at the brackets for 2019 and 2021 you'll see the placements for the semifinalists are incongruous with the quarters.
