The Ministry of the Future" posted:And then the sun cracked the eastern horizon. It blazed like an atom bomb, which of course it was. The fields and buildings underneath that brilliant chip of light went dark, then darker still as the chip flowed to the sides in a burning line that then bulged to a crescent he couldn't look at. The heat coming from it was palpable, a slap to the face. Solar radiation heating the skin of his face, making him blink. Stinging eyes flowing, he couldn't see much. Everything was tan and beige and a brilliant, unbearable white. Ordinary town in We just had a Heat Dome hit Phoenix last week, all week was 110-118 degrees and it sucked. The best part was when I went to pick up groceries and when I got out of my car it was honestly colder than it had been inside it thanks to the sun baking the interior to 120+. Stay indoors when you can and stay hydrated, I was drinking around 6+ liters a day and that is with AC. I can't imagine what it's like in the Pacific NW where no one has AC. Maybe take a trip down to Portland for a few days to chill?...wait, it's 115 degrees there this week? Blow off some steam, and blow up some truck that rolls coal. Thanks FYGM Boomers for denying 50+ years of data that shows we're hosed by Global Warming if we don't act. Wait, too late, enjoy your inferno.

Agreed. I'm an hour south and am holed up in my spare bedroom, since it is the coolest room, with a fan. It's tolerable, but drat. Real hot.

it's still cold the higher up you go so my retirement plan is to live up on K2 and you'd better believe I won't be wearing any pants just rock and ice and storm and abyss, atoms and stars and my nuts flapping in the wind

Minneapolis has been hot AF this summer, too. My yard is brown (not that I care) and we’ve had more 90+ days than I can remember ever having in June.
