Can you work in an opinion about all-season vs. winter tires and chili with vs. without beans?

Due to climate change the number of places in the US that need dedicated winter tires is decreasing and the quality of all seasons only gets better every year

Chili should be made with beans because it's served in Mexico with beans on the side, so putting beans in the chili is just streamlining the process and infusing them with flavour, eat smarter

I still feel kind of bad for making this joke when someone who actually has a dog in the fight got brigaded by "allies" anyway everybody can move on and talk about other news I guess

I don't think it's bad at all because it opens up a conversation about how phrases and memes can be both coopted or taken back. The author basically saw the phobic meme and decided to write a short story taking it literally and using it as a metaphor for dysphoria. The concept of the story is basically that the US army neurologically reassigns your gender into helicopter so that warfare becomes part of your gender identity. Flying and shooting at combatants becomes as normal as wearing a skirt used to be and the main character reflects on her previous identity as a woman and how it conflicts with what she is now.

Are personal loans a popular product? I can't think of anyone I knew who ever just got a straight up loan, not home equity or auto or whatever from a bank.

In Canada there are a couple of banks that allow you to temporarily have a positive interest in your personal line of credit which allows you to use them as fee-less chequing accounts as long as you top them off beforehand. Kind of a niche use.

Otherwise the point of a line of credit is to use their ideally lower interest to consolidate higher interest loans.

Japan has some weird attitudes about birth control. I don’t know enough about it to know if they’re in play here, but maybe.

For example, Japan didn’t approve hormonal birth control pills till 1999.

Ironically this might end up being a stopped clock being right thing because there's a lot of of evidence that birth control side effects are more common and unpleasant than they would like you to believe.

For example a male contraceptive drug had development cancelled a few years ago because it gave men in studies depression, mood changes and increased libido, which are exactly like female contraceptive pill side effects that have existed for years. What is red flag for men is acceptable risk for women. The medical industry basically offloads responsibility and risk onto women to avoid pregnancy.

Knowing what I do now if I told every woman starting birth control that there's a 10% chance it will cause depression or mood swings, can cause breast tenderness making them painful to touch, cause cystic acne breakouts even in grown rear end women, gives you a non zero chance of getting a deadly blood clot that gives you an indeterminate additional risk of taking the AstraZeneca shot, give you dry eyes, decrease your vaginal lubrication and reduce your libido just so a dude doesn't have to use a rubber that you wouldn't even notice anyway well, I really doubt I would have dispensed many packs and then get yelled at by corporate for cutting into their reliable BCP sales.

I wish there was an effective birth control for men. Mostly because I believe in personal responsibility, but also because it shouldn't have to be all on the ladies.

There could have been! The article I linked to is from 2015 and it was a drug that had 96% effectiveness for male contraception they just threw it all out because it gave the men female birth control pill side effects and that was unacceptable.

This is a thing that can happen there's just too much misogyny in medicine.

Your kids are going to have their bones dissolved in the oceans? Or did you mean shark teeth will be dissolved by the ocean so theme all starve to death? Sharks don't have bones to dissolve

Shark denticles and teeth are sensitive to increased acidity in the oceans. We know they can survive temporary acidic conditions from normal fluctuations in the ocean but even in laboratory conditions they sustain damage so who knows what happens if they're immersed in a slightly more acidic ocean for their entire lives.

War Thunder relatively accurately models armour thickness, penetration, and shell deflection, so it technically does have potential ramifications for gameplay... assuming one of your tank shells actually *hits* that gap.

This is a really small gap to hit at a really bizarre angle though -- you'd need to land a shell in the turret joint, straight on, basically skimming the surface of the tank body. It's been a while since I've played War Thunder but realistically this dude just got himself a significant prison sentence because of one slightly inaccurate tank explosion out of thousands and thousands of games he's played.

People do memorize weak points against every tank so theoretically if the gap is wide enough skilled players could aim for the gap especially if they're engaging from the front because there's nothing really else you can shoot at.

I mean you're probably right but players do forgo full ammo loads to have empty turret storage because popping side turrets is easy as heck to do so who knows if the shot trap matters.
