I try to do a 9 hour day, and even then it feels like the week flies by.

Saturday's are still the same as ever, Sunday is like a repeat Saturday without the time pressure of work the next day, and Monday is like a Sunday except by the end of it I'm genuinely just relaxed and ready to go back to work.

I'm not "technically" on a 4 day week, I just moved all my poo poo around so I would be. Ordinarily, I'd absolutely hate working an extra 90minutes a day but, knowing it gives me 3 days off, more than makes up for it.

I'd love to see a world where no one worked more than 7 hours/4 days (better would be even less, natch) and could still earn a living wage. I try to convince all the other staff to do it, too.

It's more that there seems to be a real disagreement on what counts as "last resort".

Most of Australia is treating cases out in the community where all the tracing isn't currently known as being when you're at that point. NSW decided to gamble that they would be able to trace everything and lost that dice roll.

I was being sarcastic, the experience of other cities will never cause Sydney to rethink anything because those cities are imaginary and the borders of metropolitan Sydney are actually Australia's national borders.

I think at some stage, if the individuals that we need don’t hear Dr Chant’s message and don’t respond, then at some point we’re going to move to a stage where we’re going to have to accept that the virus has a life which will continue in the community.

But we’re trying damned hard at the moment to make sure that we can use every effort to suppress that virus, and right now is a critical time. We’ve used that expression a number of times, but I can’t tell you, as health minister, just how critical it is at the moment, particularly for the community in south-west Sydney, Canterbury-Bankstown, Fairfield and Liverpool to understand that your individual actions may well determine the future of this virus in our community.

Well this is alarming if taken at face value. Half hearted do nothing "lockdown", doesnt work "oh its all too hard" and let it rip. See you all next year, rest of the country.

I really hope Sydney can get on top of this, but if they don't/won't then it's gonna be a long few isolated months. After the rest of the country has done hard lockdowns to get into places where there is no community transmission we aren't going to give up the gains just because Gladys thinks NSW is special.

At least until we have widespread vaccination. Once that's done we will have to accept there are always going to be some community cases unfortunately, but at least it will be semi-controlled.

I can't believe that telephoto lens photos of people outside was still enough to convince people that it's a nothing lockdown, it's just permanently April 2020 in Auspol I guess. If you look at the recent google mobility data you'll see -33% for retail and recreation spaces, -18% for parks, -62% for public transport and -35% for workplaces, that's for all of NSW and many places aren't in lockdown. There's been so many photos of people outside at Bondi floating around, but the Waverley council area is -50% in all areas except supermarkets which are -30%. This sort of lockdown seems to have restricted mobility and didn't involve human rights violations by locking people in public housing towers on short notice and never apologising for it.

It's refreshing that the nation has decided to embark on a side by side trial, with the rest of the nation trialling immediate snap lockdowns and Sydney trying the wait and see approach. I think the evidence is in, but we might have to cauterize the infected area if it doesn't get under control soon.

Do you remember what happened after that in most of the rest of the world? Where countries flattened their curves and then had cases explode with the result of people not being able to work for months and thousands of people dying?

Like please, point to the country that without heavy restrictions has managed to avoid Covid ripping through their population.
