I'm not "technically" on a 4 day week, I just moved all my poo poo around so I would be. Ordinarily, I'd absolutely hate working an extra 90minutes a day but, knowing it gives me 3 days off, more than makes up for it. I'd love to see a world where no one worked more than 7 hours/4 days (better would be even less, natch) and could still earn a living wage. I try to convince all the other staff to do it, too. Like the opposite of a crab bucket. Crab trampoline, if you will.

Sydney extending the lockdown by another week after Perth and Brisbane and Darwin have exited theirs, I'm sure this will cause a re-examination of the "you should avoid lockdown until it's absolutely unavoidable" mentality in Sydneysiders

Pfft it's the lockdown they had to have. Short circuit breaker lockdowns don't work against the highly infectious strains.

Not sounding good, especially concerning those LGAs and their immigrant populations and the Government near ignoring minorities. On the upside it could tank Scotty if the Golden Child is locked down for an extended period of time.

Most of Australia is treating cases out in the community where all the tracing isn't currently known as being when you're at that point. NSW decided to gamble that they would be able to trace everything and lost that dice roll.

I was being sarcastic, the experience of other cities will never cause Sydney to rethink anything because those cities are imaginary and the borders of metropolitan Sydney are actually Australia's national borders.

9 unlinked cases today, I don't know if that means they are looking at 9 separate unlinked cases or if it's a cluster of 9 with no link or something in between. Vastly different scenarios. Anyway loving fix it.

Oh no our do gently caress all approach hasn’t immediately yielded the covid zero result that we have been whiteanting since the pandemic loving began, it is with a heavy heart that I tell you we’ll just have to live with the virus and it’s a sheer coincidence that this has been our intent all along. Can the rest of the states vote to secede from NSW?

I really hope Sydney can get on top of this, but if they don't/won't then it's gonna be a long few isolated months. After the rest of the country has done hard lockdowns to get into places where there is no community transmission we aren't going to give up the gains just because Gladys thinks NSW is special. At least until we have widespread vaccination. Once that's done we will have to accept there are always going to be some community cases unfortunately, but at least it will be semi-controlled.

I can't believe that telephoto lens photos of people outside was still enough to convince people that it's a nothing lockdown, it's just permanently April 2020 in Auspol I guess. If you look at the recent google mobility data you'll see -33% for retail and recreation spaces, -18% for parks, -62% for public transport and -35% for workplaces, that's for all of NSW and many places aren't in lockdown. There's been so many photos of people outside at Bondi floating around, but the Waverley council area is -50% in all areas except supermarkets which are -30%. This sort of lockdown seems to have restricted mobility and didn't involve human rights violations by locking people in public housing towers on short notice and never apologising for it.

I think the evidence is in, but we might have to cauterize the infected area if it doesn't get under control soon.

"2 weeks to flatten the curve and give our hospitals a chance to get ready." Remember that. Then I couldnt work for months and almost lost my house. I don't know how we got here but we have gotten to the point where anyone getting sick in a pandemic is totally unacceptable from a political point of view. This is going to go on for years over here while the rest of the world.has moved on isn't it?

Where countries flattened their curves and then had cases explode with the result of people not being able to work for months and thousands of people dying? Like please, point to the country that without heavy restrictions has managed to avoid Covid ripping through their population.
