Yeah it never quite hit home just how preventable flu deaths are until last year's basically non-existent flu season. Imagine if every winter we didn't go to work when sick, wore masks out when sick or even just in crowded environments like public transport, washed our hands properly and didn't stand right up close to strangers unnecessarily.

These guys would have been on subclass 408 visas, which have a specific category for television performers. For travel exemptions there isn't really an economic benefit category but there also aren't any actual laws for how travel exemptions are approved, it's absolutely entirely discretion. There's a "critical skills" category that is meant to be for "supply of essential services" but I suspect that if a state government supports your entry and tells the federal government they'll organise quarantine above and beyond the usual caps then you'll get your travel exemption no matter what you're doing.

Also kids with underlying conditions don't deserve to die of covid either.
