Hey plant sleuths, my mother has had this plant for like 15 years but doesn't know what it is. It recently flowered for the first time ever. We didn't even know it could flower. Anyone know what this is?

Barroom plant - Aspidistra elatior

On edit: I'm not sure about that. Can I get a close up pic of the leaf showing the stem?

It's definitely a Dracaena. Not 100% on species.

Aspidistra flowers bloom really close to the soil and have remarkably bizarre looking flowers.

I've been toying with the idea of making castings of them so that i could then make decorative pitchers to put in vases and stuff. haven't quite worked out how to cast something shaped like that though.

behold! some pincushions grew!

the part you're looking at is a shield-like thing with little one-way flaps all around its border, and it forces bugs to boop the flower's pollen as they figure out how to leave the thing

also they send out flowers ahead of growing pitchers so the pollinators don't accidentally get caught :3:

Want some rye?
Course ya do!

i almost killed my car toting 1200lbs of dirt and manure from the garden center to my house because i’m going to have a garden again and no one can stop me there will be peppers and tomatoes and tarragon and not chives because once you grow chives that’s all that will ever grow there again and everywhere around you forever

I always wondered why mint & chive tea was a thing. Desperation is the answer.

Someone abandoned this lil succulent on a post by my garage in the middle of a rainstorm. I have decided to take it in and find a warm sunny spot for it. Name suggestions are welcome.
