England are definitely going to beat Denmark who lost their first two games and are now apparently good because they smashed up two of the most pitiful teams in the tournament - Wales and Russia.

Nature Abhors A Vacuum

Referees for final three matches have reportedly been selected as follows:

Italy/Spain: Brych (GER)
England/Denmark: Makkelie (NED)
Final: Kuipers (NED)

Also reportedly, Cakir was invited to London but then was sent home from there. If true, my guess is that he was originally pencilled in for Italy/Spain but Ceferin got him scratched. Brych for three knockout games is beyond reason, especially when his first one was a disaster. Brych will be doing two in a row, having just done the last match between England/Ukraine. I know three knockouts in a single Euro has never been done before, I am not sure that consecutive matches has been done either.

Hategan not getting a knockout match is crazy. Karasev deserved something more from his performances, too. They are the 4ths on the semi finals, so at least they got some sort of recognition.

It’s a little wild to me how some of this shook out - the group stage of the tournament and the initial selection of who to keep for the knockouts seemed to really be based on merit, with Mateu Lahoz and Turpin, who had CL/EL finals this season, both were sent home early. But some of the deeper decisions have been…weird.

Congrats to Kuipers, he definitely earned the final. Strong tournament and probably the safest pair of hands remaining.
