Watched some twitch streamers play the game, most of them complaining how resource starved they were while totally ignoring the big ‘loot me’ sign on the navigation screen after shooting down a transport fleets, or completely missing the radar indicating an anomaly that they should check out. I think the problem is with the kind of people playing it earlier.

So, here are two of my designs that seem to working out for me, they're essentially better Gladiators. Tallboy: Armed with 4x100mm autocannons and a chain-gun, with options for a couple external missiles and plenty of APS. So I tried testing the viability of the rocket launchers, yet despite costing a lot of resources to equip it, doesn’t seem to be all that useful and about on par with an AK-100.
