Watched some twitch streamers play the game, most of them complaining how resource starved they were while totally ignoring the big ‘loot me’ sign on the navigation screen after shooting down a transport fleets, or completely missing the radar indicating an anomaly that they should check out. I think the problem is with the kind of people playing it earlier.

So, here are two of my designs that seem to working out for me, they're essentially better Gladiators.

Tallboy: Armed with 4x100mm autocannons and a chain-gun, with options for a couple external missiles and plenty of APS. Basically my workhorse.

Nutcracker: Wielding 2xchain-guns, 2x100mm autocannons, 1x180mm cannon, and internal missile bay of missiles. Basically my cruiser killer, missiles and the cannons put big holes in the armor at a distant, while the chain-guns rip apart the internals components at close-range.

Mayflower: She is armed with 9xchain-guns, 10xAA missiles, 4xmissile tube, 5xbombers, 5xfighters, 5xlarge missile (two which get pooped out the back), 8 APSs, and boat load of armor. She can take a hit or two, but don't push your luck.

So I tried testing the viability of the rocket launchers, yet despite costing a lot of resources to equip it, doesn’t seem to be all that useful and about on par with an AK-100. Anyone figure out what they good for?

The problem is scale, for every three small thrusters you should be switching to one of the large thrusters, because it provides the same thrust for a faction of the fuel cost. This also applies to fuel tanks except the conversion works out for every 6 small tank should be switched for a large tank, because it weigh almost the same amount but has almost a third more fuel.

Just toss both files for each ship in your ship folder (which is in the Highfleet folder wherever you install the game) and BAM! You're done. They'll be available for you to edit and use in the campaign.

Interesting idea, but with a consumption rate of 400t, you'd probably be better off fielding something with a bit more armor. Actually a problem in general I'm finding with speed builds is that they're extremely risky, with very little ways to capitalize on that speed in a interesting ways unfortunately; at least in a way that doesn't also handicap your speed in some way.

E: Especially considering they're so stupidly vulnerable to cruise missiles and fighter jets.

E2: Especially especially since ship drop bombs do so little damage and are so extremely hard to find. I don't think I've ever seen them in a shop.

I don't know if you tested it in combat, but do the plane crash into ELINT tower in front of them? Because when I designed my first carrier I lost all my planes that way.

My only real observation is that you're going to need to fiddle with ship file to allow it to be a Flagship, unfortunately it's not something you can toggle in the ship builder. Other than that, it's got some pretty big blind spots for gun coverage and you probably need another fire control system, only having guidance 2 mean your AA missiles are very likely to miss.

Don't think it matters either way, if APS does activate and hit, you're probably still screwed anyway since you're in the blast radius.
