I uploaded with the imgur app, then used mobile Firefox in desktop mode to log into the imgur website, look at my (private) post, and then you can tap the image, then the ... that appears in the topright corner, Get Share Links, and then a box pops up (offscreen) with a bbcode link that actually works.

And, yes, this is the simplest method I've found.
