the usa library of congress has stockpiled a collection of comics and cartoons (eg [1]). prety nice right? however mnay of these pages are mysteriously censored, providing only a small thumbnail and the caption, stating ominously "Full online access to this resource is only available at the Library of Congress". what do they fear from letting this literature circulate in public?

i am spear heading a crowd sourcing initiative to promote freedom of thought by reverse engineering these forbidden laffs. using advanced ai (nb [2]) to restore the blurred thumbnail to the artist's original vision. then i am using comic forensics to triangulate the subject matter and reverse engineer the punchline, showing us an intriguing glimpse of what occupied the minds of yesterday's free thinkers before the government locked them all up in the loc idea prison. maximum security.

here's an example of the process

the original comic, captioned "What every husband knows. A wife's impression of her golf-fan husband and his friends" (cf [3])

the restored artwork

the banned joke, revealed in public for the first time in centuries:

now here's where you come in, simply do what i did. or if you don't want to waste your time finding a strip, simply post "freedom of thought is not worth my time" and i will find a strip and upscale it for you, so all you have to do is interpret the caption.

Well the good news is that this one was super easy to reverse-engineer. The bad news is that it is highly problematic.
