Actually so here's something fun about engines that I've learned recently: Back in the late 1800s early 1900s all the farmers and woodlot owners had steam powered saw mills and caused wildfires all the time. The early combustion hit and miss engines actually put an end to it by providing a "safer" energy source. Probably need to clean your throttle body if your butterflys are that resistant to opening that it hurts your foot. Spring rates are constant so there shouldn't be more effort required for less throttle
