Man. Can’t believe this would happen to this team! Unprecedented stuff.

In all seriousness though our gm reported today that the roster is “97% vaccinated” so hopefully this is just precautionary. Glad it’s getting out of the way during the preseason. I love these dumb rear end fellas

I was reading an article today that said there have only been two seasons in like the last 20 or so where an NFL team failed to go from worst to first, which really surprised me. So I started looking over last years final standings and the only team I can find for this year is SF.

But there's your kernel of hope for Jacksonville I guess.

Nelson at least is apparently just a close contact, not a positive test, so that could shorten his quarantine timeframe.

Of course, if he was vaccinated like a non-idiot he wouldn't have to quarantine at all for a close contact! But alas.

Also, the Jags seriously couldn't get more than 6th/maybe 5th for Minshew? What the gently caress.

Zach Ertz made the most sense to me and I've been pushing that move for a while. Jags need a TE and the Eagles appear to be done with him. A year or two of Ertz at TE giving Trevor a safety valve seems more valuable than a 6th rounder given the Jags' void and history at the position but what do I know? I don't run this stellar franchise here in Jacksonville.

That seems like a good pick up for Philly to me.

Before going down the tubes Sanchez could never have been had for a 6th

e: nevermind the fact that the point was trading a dude for a bad preseason game when he has actual regular season success in his career makes no sense

Sanchez also had things like "arm strength" and "size" that made him an enticing prospect

Minshew's highest upside as a QB is Chad Pennington

He's fine for a backup. Maybe since he has such a strong meme-based fanbase they wanted him gone so if Lawrence struggles there wouldn't be some call for him to start

It's really more that he isn't a fit for what they want to do on offense/isn't a great match to back up Lawrence. This team wants to do lots of downfield passing, which Minshew doesn't excel at. Beathard has a stronger arm.

I took the octopath less travelered,

And it made one-eighth the difference.
Minshew’s great for giving a team an identity and is decent, but can’t blame them for taking Lawrence when handed him on a silver platter. I can laugh at them for Meyer though, god drat.

Either way, glad I can full-on root for Minshew to have at least a Fitzpatrick-esque career now.

I mean, Minshew is no great shakes but as a solid backup QB in certain systems he's fine.

I think the writing was on the wall for him when the Jags inked CJ Beathard for whatever loving reason and this is obviously gonna be the Trevor Lawrence show for the foreseeable future. Seems to me the move would have been to keep him around, wait for a top shelf dude on a team thin at back up to get hurt and then certainly get more than a 6, similar to the panic move the Vikings made for Bradford a few years ago but whatever.

I was referring more to how a team can get more for a player if another team seems desperate or has an injury. Not really comparing them. Minnesota gave up a #1 and a 4th for Bradford and I think they over paid

I'd slot Minshew's upside as something along the lines of a Teddy Bridgewater, which is not great but fine for a backup or a spot starter. I watched him play a lot here in Jax on a god awful football team with very little help and he certainly had his moments. He was far from the Jags' biggest issue here and I'd take him as a backup over CJ Beathard.

His style seems like a good fit for backing up Hurts too so Philly getting him for a 6th seems like a steal.

And lol I heard the Texans wanted 3 firsts from Philly for Watson so, yeah, gently caress that.

Colts are falling apart

If Tanny's lungs still work, Tits should be able to stroll to a divisional championship this year

Codependent Poster

The only thing that worries me about the Colts is the offensive line. LT is probably gonna be real bad this year, and Nelson needs to be back ASAP. The offense is gonna go as far as the running game will take them, unless Wentz somehow does revert to MVP form, but nobody's counting on that. So the offensive line and RBs have to carry the offense.

The defense looks real real good though.

IND is a lock to finish no worse than second place. HOU is a dumpster fire and Jacksonville is...

A waste basket fire inside of a dumpster fire in the middle of a wild fire.

TEN seems like a lock here and this seems like the easiest division in football to predict right now.

Gonna look up a parlay bet to see what TEN>IND>JAX>HOU looks like because I can't see it going any other way really, barring some major injuries.

I can't wait to see Urban's offense get smoked and them scrambling to figure out how to make Lawrence and some good pieces work. I think they have some talent, but I don't trust him to use them properly.
