I thought Donkey Kong '94 was just a Game Boy adaptation of the arcade game so when the game kept going after the recreations of the arcade levels I was confused and then I got excited.

I think I've posted about this before but I vividly remember renting Earthworm Jim 64 multiple times just to try to understand it. It was on maybe the third rental where I realised that it was a bad game and that games could be "bad", which I was aware of as an abstract concept from lovely reviews in Nintendo magazines and stuff, but was a conclusion I'd never actually arrived at myself until that day. I posted about this on Twitter and the actual game director popped up out of nowhere and apologised for making the game and inadvertedly causing me to have my own small fall from Eden moment a year or two before I should have Lunchmeat Larry fucked around with this message at 11:40 on Aug 16, 2021 |

being given my first console and happily playing the 2 mediocre at best games that came w/ it for the next 6 months discovering what emulation is and losing my poo poo, my computer can hold 50000 gba games and their all fkn free... then bragging ab it on school buying gaming magazines for the free games and demo disks, then spending more time reading the drat thing than actually playing. ooooh gently caress, wonder what score their gonna give trasher presents skate and destroy good times

I just remembered being able to get around the firewall at school and being able to get to all the flash game sites because the firewall didn't block the sites if there was a period on the end. So like, https://www.newgrounds.com wouldn't work but https://www.newgrounds.com. would.

In high school gym we had the option to either play whatever game the entire class was playing or walk the track. When the class was playing Baseball the track was far away and partially out of view of the diamond so me and my friend would just hop the fence, sit under one of the big shady trees, and play Mario Kart on our DS’s.
