It'll be annoying for people putting together per game stuff for guys like Mahomes going forward because of those couple of years.

Like how with Brady and Peyton you'd be looking at stuff and getting annoyed about those few years Peyton was in the AFC East.

I mean at the end of the day you have to trust your scouts grades.

Like, if you say always take the QB when you need one, look at the 2011 draft:

1-8 Jake Locker
1-9 Tyron Smith
1-10 Blaine Gabbert
1-11 JJ Watt
1-12 Christian Ponder
1-14 Robert Quinn
1-15 Mike Pouncey
1-16 Ryan Kerrigan
1-17 Nate Solder

Of course, depends on your scouts.

Because when Mac Jones turns into the next Tom Brady, well 14 teams gonna be looking foolish I tell ya what.

Looks like he died in a motorcycle accident, drat.

AFC is pretty much full of playoff teams though. Just look at the preseason, 10, 10, 8 and 9 wins for the AFC, 4, 3, 2 and 1 for the NFC. Only 2 NFC teams had a positive point differential, while only 3 for the AFC were negative.

Texans are funny because their roster is a who's who of guys with like 8 years of experience who make you go, oh yeah, that guy.

Like, they have Rex Burkhead, Andre Roberts, Mark Ingram, Brandin Cooks, David Johnson, Justin Britt, Marcus Cannon and Whitney Mercilus.

Kalli

That said average team age is dumb, because if your QB is 35, then whatever, he'll probably be good for another 5 years, but a 30 year old cornerback or running back might as well be dust.

Anytime you can bring in a 35 year old WR for a team that would be lucky to win 3 games, you do it.

What's the team most likely to vastly underachieve their season expectations?

I think it's the Rams. Good division and their offensive line is a kinda dicey proposition, what with having a god damned 40 year old left tackle. Also their defense is 2 players and some guys, and while those are the two guys to have....

The fun part of this discussion is nobody is going to suggest an NFC East or AFC South team because no matter how badly they disappoint who the gently caress else is going to run away with that division?

Oh no the Titans suck out loud and only win the AFC South by 3 games over the Jags.

9.9 - Seahawks
9.8 - 49ers / Patriots
9.4 - Rams / Cowboys
9.3 - Dolphins / Broncos
9.1 - Saints
8.9 - Vikings
8.7 - Browns / Steelers
8.4 - Titans
