BYU avoided 10 straight losses to Utah, which is probably for the best because if Utah had won they would have had the right to conquer BYU's realm.

The stats were the same and it was a shortened season, but Adam Korsak's 2020 seemed slightly down from his really good 2019. He is back with a loving vengeance though. Dude better loving win the Ray Guy. He is Robo Punter come to life. I've also learned that somehow, there is a wave of Australian punters in CFB now, and they're all kicking rear end. There have slowly been more over the years ever since Darren Bennett, but it's suddenly picked up.

Feeling a little better about being in the big 12 without that albatross texas. Still hate the conference and I have always maintained it is the dumbest conference for wvu to be in since day one. Today was also likely the peak of satisfaction for wvu football this season with a return to form on senselessly savaging a hapless prep school team from long island.

Rules question -- this came up on the last drive of the Nebraska game today, where a QB pitch to the RB was ruled a forward pitch. But thinking about it, there's a grey area that I'm not sure how the backwards vs forwards pass should be interpreted. So, in an option play, the QB is running forward. Let's use an arbitrary number and say he's running forward at 15 mph and at the 50 yard line he pitches to the running back. He pitches the ball at 10 mph backwards, relative to his speed. But since he's moving 15 mph, the ball's speed relative to the field is a positive 5 mph, so it's entirely possible that while the pitch motion is backwards, the ball's location when received by the RB is forward of the position where the QB released it. But the QB certainly pitched it backwards from his perspective. Anyone know how this is interpreted?

Cristobal's built a strong and fast run team, and Brown looks like he can also find a target. Tennessee still sucks and makes a hundred dumb penalties a game, but the fact we were still in the game until the end and all three phases seemed vaguely competent after our backup QB came in makes things still an improvement over the Pruitt era, so I'm happy enough considering this year was gonna be a shitshow anyway. Also, god drat did our special teams kick rear end. Blocked the first punt, two or three punts inside the 5, and we even almost had a kick six if not for a dumb penalty.

I'm like 95% sure that if the ball travel backwards it is ruled a backwards pass. In your example that pass will look (and is) forward to everyone other than the QB so it's forward. Basically look at the yard line it was thrown at and the one it was caught at. The latter must be behind the first. That simple.

I bet with every passing year the FSU admin is happier and happier they told Jimbo Fisher that no, they weren't buying him any more football things because they already bought him enough and it's too expensive to buy any more. If he wants to compete with Alabama and Clemson he should just I don't know what but do something that doesn't require us to have to have facilities that good. I'm so, so, SO loving glad I started emotionally distancing myself from this shitshow a few years ago. Countdown to discovering Norvell has a $50,000,000 buyout in his contract.

I'm imagining Pac 12 refs engaged in an 8 hour review and coming up with the right answer but inexplicably ruling the other way anyway. Kentucky should have won that game by at least three scores yesterday. The normal Mizzou homer types are praising their ability to fight back (which I guess has some small merit because wow they got their asses kicked all day), but in the end I'd rather be the type of team that shouldn't be proud of only losing by 7 instead of 21 or more to Kentucky. Went to the CU/A&M game, was cool that they played at Mile High stadium here in Denver... I don't usually say too much about fan bases, but the CU fans (primarily the students) were absolutely terrible. Running into A&M fans walking the other way, spilling ppls drinks, throwing poo poo onto the field and at A&M fans. It was bad.

Couple of quick notes from the UGA game: Stetson Bennet played lights out and did drat near everything he was supposed to do. I think Monken called that game to show that we are a deep threat team now I don't think Beck's interception is totally on him, the RB it was going to didn't even turn around and didn't even really attempt to stop the defender We beat the hell out of a team we were supposed to and we did it in convincing fashion Still no defensive touchdowns allowed RGIII and ESPN are really trying to stir up a QB controversy and it was annoying. We know exactly who Bennet is and what we get from him versus JT. Why the hell are we having such trouble running the dang ball

LLCoolJD posted:https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/college/acc/florida-state-university/article238322743.html Yeah but at least the FSU admin didn't waste any money on upgrading facilities! I literally just watched the last play of yesterday's game and Ho. Lee. Shet. Completely loving indefensible, there's literally no way to argue that defense was anything but a goat-rope cluster-gently caress of historic proportions. How do people who are getting loving paid to do this come up with something like that? Why not rush 8? Why not just put 10 men on the field to give JSU a better chance? Just... just baffling, mind-boggling incompetence up and down the coaching staff and no way to excuse any of it. So it turns out that FSU-ND wasn't a hard-fought scratch-and-claw between two struggling dynasties on their way back but a loving street wino punch-up between two crusty homeless in a kiddie pool ring being videotaped for bumfights.com or whatever the gently caress. My hopes for FSU's season have shrunk to this: Have a first down, at any point in any game, where the first down play does not result in a penalty. It's hard to imagine how FSU could have squandered the fan hope and excitement after the first game any harder than this.

Iowa has beaten the absolute dogshit out of two ranked teams with like two actual offensive drives lmao. At some point having their worst QB of the last 20 years is probably going to lead to a dumb loss or two like last year but this defense is mean as hell. They've completely broken two QBs who were expected to be good this year and are 2 for 2 in getting them benched. MourningView fucked around with this message at 13:11 on Sep 12, 2021 |

Iowa State could barely get anything going offensively. We always struggle hard against a competent D. I think it’s time we moved on from our OC. Purdy looked scared for half the game with one terrible drive that resulted in three lost yardage plays in a row. Hopefully things turn around soon. The Big 12 still has plenty of beatable teams, but once again ISU is failing to live up to high expectations. Not sure why I bothered to buy into the hype. Good news is Texas apparently still sucks.
