Back in the day you could make an rear end kickin' song about trains.

Old blues fans, i highly recommend this cd set, The Paramount Masters
https://www.allmusic.com/album/the-paramount-masters-mw0000332091

It's a cool story, basically a Usenet/BBS group of music collectors who were really into old blues realized that between them they had a lot of the world's oldest recorded blues music, much of it on wax cylinders, some of which were extremely rare or possibly even one of a kind. So they banded together to record them all and produce this 4 CD set of old blues music.

It's awesome, not just for historical value either it's just really good. A lot of it predates or is contemporary with Robert Johnson, who also owns (but was on a different label so is not featured here)

There are too many fantastic tracks in that set to post, just pick a random one and it'll be good. There's some good ragtime in there too. But, for comedic value i must post this one, All Birds Look Like Chicken To Me, by Sweet Papa Stovepipe

Originally recorded in 1931 by Ozzie Nelson, written even earlier by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt and lyrics by Gus Kahn.

More notably recorded in mid-to-late 50s by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong (1956?)

And then huge fame with the cover by Mama Cass

There's this song called "Sugar Lips" from 1964 by Al Hirt, a trumpet player. It does not whip rear end. It is not meant to be taken seriously. It's just goofy fun.

https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=FPnFH5Cn4BU&feature=share

This is 1966 but I'm gonna post it anyway because it actually does whip rear end, mostly because of the BONGOS:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMzk5_41q7A

DID I MENTION THE BONGOS? BONGOS BONGOS BONGOS

And along those lines, I can't believe nobody's posted Soul Bossa Nova yet:

I'm currently ripping a bunch of wax for y'all, it'll come through archive when I get it all done.

I love old blues and old indigenous trail music.

Finger Prince

there was a really excellent old time jazz show called sugarfoot stomp on CIUT, which sadly ended recently. It was hosted originally by Jeff Healey (though I never listened to it back then), and most recently by Colin Bray. He was an old curmudgeon who had an encyclopedic knowledge of old jazz and the musicians who played it, and he played the most amazing rare stuff. It's sad the show finally ended, because it was a real gem.
