Which shouldn't surprise anyone. But I'm interested in the inevitable controversy of a 1 loss second SEC championship loser getting in over an undefeated Cincinnati.

Bama and Georgia in whatever order aren't going to be especially controversial; the intrigue is between undefeated Cincy and not especially impressive 1 or 2 loss Big 12/Big Ten/Pac-12 champs.

For more important matters, is it too early to talk about UTEP being a possible bowl team at 4-1? They still have Southern Miss, Rice, North Texas coming up; it's plausible they could scrape together two more wins.

On October 15, 1983, the University of Oklahoma football team visited Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Sooner squad played poorly at first, and within 10 minutes Oklahoma State was winning by a score of 20-3. A policeman escorted Gene Thrailkill, the Oklahoma band director, off the field for not having a sideline pass. Before he was forced to leave, Thrailkill shouted to the band members, "I want you to start playing and don't stop 'til the team's ahead!" The band complied and played "Boomer Sooner" non-stop roughly 300 times. The team responded by scoring 15 unanswered points against Oklahoma State. After an OSU fumble with 1:17 left in the game, Oklahoma scored a field goal to win 21-20. OU coach Barry Switzer awarded the game ball to the band (known as "The Pride of Oklahoma") for the non-stop effort and labeled it "The Day The Pride Won".

It's a trash rear end song for a trash rear end school.

Yeah he was actually there for 9 years (2004-2012) and generally kept them in the middle tier of C-USA. They fell into the toilet after that.

If anybody's seeing any hot rear end Auburn over Georgia takes you are just seeing internet nonsense; it's a terrifying edition of a team that consistently dominates us against a fundamentally flawed roster primed for a letdown after a huge emotional win over a team that is probably not all that good at football relatively speaking. I'll say there's a 10 percent floor of Jordan-Hare shenanigans resulting in an Auburn win but not much else.
This is great, Richt has always been one of the very small number of people in this business I think are basically respectable and I hope that never changes

Obviously Cincy unless that Big 12 champ is by some miracle Texas, in which case the Little Sisters of the Poor need to go play a big boy schedule if they want to be in the playoff hunt.

Like no poo poo, if right at this moment we compare bama and uga to the rest they definitely won the September championship. And the score is like 17-3 @ the half

The SEC CG loser has never gone to the playoff and I hope it stays that way (unless it expands to an 8-team system).

Hmm...looked up 2017 again and the secret is to be Alabama and have chaos Auburn make sure you don't get to the Championship game with one loss.

Then if you can handle Clemson you get to break Georgia's heart in the final again and start the legend of Tua.

If Bama and Georgia reach the SEC CG both at 12-0, they’re both getting in; I recommend that everyone save themself some grief and make peace with this now.

They’ll also be seeded winner 1 and loser 3 to save the rematch for the title game.

It’s the first time a CCG loser made the playoff, but it’s also the first time a committee top-2 team lost in a CCG, period. There’s no real precedent that a CCG loss is disqualifying, and why would it be? That’s no more objectionable than putting in a team that didn’t make the CCG at all.

Notre Dame was 'officially' an ACC member last year because of weird covid things and made it to the playoffs after losing the ACC championship game.

Which at the moment can't happen again.

e: meaning that specific thing can't happen again because Notre Dame is back to being independent and only ACC adjacent. I agree with the dog that unless Georgia or Bama mess up pretty badly along the way they're both gonna make it this year.

It's been on the table, but it would've been a stretch to leave those teams (in bold) out. SEC Championship Game history, playoff era:

2014
Bama, who was in with a win, beat Mizzou, who sucked

2015
Bama, who was in with a win, beat Florida, who sucked

2016
Bama, who was in with a win, beat Florida who sucked

2017
Georgia, who was in with a win, beat Auburn, who was in with a win

2018
Bama, who was definitely in no matter what, beat Georgia, who was in with a win

2019
LSU, who was definitely in no matter what, beat Georgia, who was in with a win

2020
Bama, who was definitely in no matter what, beat Florida, who neither sucked nor was in with a win

I don't know either and I've watched all of it. They started the season sloppy as hell and committing penalties constantly. The first quarter of the UCLA game looked awful but the second half was dominant. I always want them to be good, but they always break my heart, so I won't really believe until the season is over and they've won something. Of course, the NCAA will then take it all away due to recruiting violations.

SECCG chat if Bama and Georgia both deathmarch to the game I don’t think it matters who wins or loses. If either of them show weakness in the run up and they get slapped in the championship game, there’s an argument against loser inclusion.

I’d bet right now on Bama/Georgia/Oklahoma/Ohio State
