$500 pay-per-view autopsies as part of the Oddities and Curiosities Expo and this body was donated by the funeral home to "medical research". It's a cousin to the "corpses used to test military munitions" a while back.

I guess Tales from the Crypt had to get the idea from somewhere.

I probably missed some of this chat, but has anyone here gotten the Moderna booster?

I don't quite fall into the age ranged, but my job is in the medical field and I am frequently in close proximity to people who are possibly covid positive and am thinking about getting the booster.

I'll get the booster scheduled for this week then.

It's frustrating being around the people in my unit who apparently think that getting the vaccine will damage your heart and make you get a pacemaker.

I just don't want to catch this bullshit.

That said I got my 3rd Moderna shot on Thursday and other than a really sore arm on Friday, I didn't experience any side effects.

There's a curious tendency for those ardent proponents of using the most radical methods in pursuit of goal X to discount (and, frequently, disparage) those that fight for goal X without the same level of extreme rhetoric or action. Often even to the point where it seems defeating less openly radical groups is a higher priority than effecting the change both express a desire to see! This urge to declare and constantly reinforce this oppositional identity is great for feeling like you're part of a select tribe that's incontrovertibly Correct™, but less great for overcoming an actual opposition that is willing and able to build a broader coalition by reconciling or papering over its own internal dissension in pursuit of its ends.

Uhh, current event: it's cold and dark wtf

It's a little hard to swallow that the Biden administration is much better than Trump's when, for example, their policy on what to do at the border is basically the same thing. We still have over 3,000 Guardsmen on 13 month non-voluntary deployment to the SWB, costing $840 million annually, and the CBP is expanding its facility for processing and removing the people it catches coming across the border.

Obviously counterfactuals are hard to prove, but I think that the Covid Vaccine distribution would have been better under Trump. The vaccine development started while he was in office, and if he was the one pushing for people to get vaccinated so that he could take credit for stopping the spread of Covid, Democrats would take the vaccine anyway and it would remove one of the biggest reasons that conservatives have for not taking the vaccine, i.e. that it's being pushed by Democrats and Joe Biden.

As far as the infrastructure bill goes, it was bi-partisan. No reason to think that Trump would have vetoed it had the Congress passed it with him in the White House.

As it is, the Democrats best hope for 2024 is that Biden is still able to run for office as I don't see Harris being popular enough to go the distance.

Trump had four years to pass an infrastructure bill, and didn't. Republicans would have just passed more anti-tax legislation like always.

Also, gonna need some evidence that any of your counterfactuals are other than wishful thinking.

Democrats are going to pass a $500 billion tax cut if BBB gets passed.

As far as the border situation, I'm getting to see that up close and personal and waste a year of my life.

As far as the vaccine goes, here's Kamala Harris stating she won't take the vaccine if Trump advocated it.

I've never had much of a problem with SALT - Republicans really shafted the gently caress out of Blue States with that 2017 bill, considering Blue State budgets are mostly paid for by rich fucks' state income taxes. With that said, also gently caress 'em, they can have fun hanging with Elon and COVID in a red state if they really want to save on their taxes.

How did the Republicans shaft the blue states with the 2017 bill? The SALT deduction doesn't lower the person's tax liability to the state, it lowers their tax liability to the Federal Government.

Oklahoma National Guard Rejecting Vaccine Mandate

How is this even a thing and how long until the OKNG gets federalized and ordered to get the vaccine?

Apparently you just get to do whatever the hell you want in the Guard anymore.

The Kentucky Guard hosed everyone on the Border Mission because 6 of their pilots wouldn't get the vaccine and were thus undeployable.

It'll be fun when the OK ARNG figures out that like 90% of the Guard's funding is Federal.

I think it was someone playing the long game to get rid of the AG-44 Green Class A uniform.
