Ogre Battle was published by Enix, which means it's under Square-Enix's purview now. You're not gonna see it on SNESflix or 64flix - Squenix doesn't seem interested in the service at all - but they may get around to releasing an Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre collection on Switch at some point before the heat death of the universe. I'd have put money on those getting a remaster/remake before ActRaiser, but I guess not.

You could get the PSP version, which came out in English, and play that on Vita if you're that interested in the game, or maybe wait for the Steam Deck if you've got a reservation on that. But afaik there haven't been any announcements regarding Switch ports. I think the most recent Trails related announcement was the one where they're using the Geofront translation as the official one for the Crossbell arc? Which is coming to Switch, IIRC.

My main problem is that I'm coming into the Metroidvania genre from games like Symphony of the Night and Aria of Sorrow, and Super Metroid just feels so stiff compared to those two. It's not a game I played in my childhood, so I don't have any nostalgia for it coloring my perceptions or muscle memory for its particular challenges. It's still a good game, don't get me wrong, but if I was compiling a top 5 list of SNES games, Super Metroid would not be on it. 100YrsofAttitude posted:That's strange. When I went into Super Metroid, the controls hardly phased me. I got used to its world and then just had a blast. It's a very well designed Metroidvania and it encourages you to explore and test things. Plus the physics work in its favor but you do have to accept them. Also, it's weird that when you press Start, the game does not pause immediately. Enemies are still moving up until the point that the map screen appears. You can still get hit and even die in that time, and you can't do anything about it because you have no control after you pause.

I picked up a Split Pad Pro today at Walmart, let's see if it's as good as everyone raves about. It looks comically oversized on my Switch, none of the pictures I'd seen prepared me for how thick this controller is in comparison to the Switch unit.

I honestly could not care less about rumble; I'm more likely to miss the gyro. But the Split Pad Pro supposedly has a much better D-Pad and games generally don't need both a good D-Pad and gyro at the same time, so it should be fine.

Close. The Press Turn system gives your party extra turns when you hit a weakness. Your party loses turns if you miss or hit a Null/Drain/Repel. Naturally this also works for the enemy the same way. Persona 3's combat system caused combatants to gain the Down status effect if hit in their weakness in addition to the attacker gaining an extra turn and the possibility of getting an All-Out Attack if you knocked all the enemies down, but you could lose your next turn if you missed with a basic attack. This was dialed back in 4 and 5, and the Down status no longer causes you to lose a turn (though in 4 you could inflict Dizzy if you hit an enemy's weakness after they were Down, which caused them to lose a turn, but you didn't get the One More from it).

IIRC at least in some SMT games (I haven't played 5, so I can't say either way) incenses are full HP/MP heals in addition to the stat point, so it was suggested in those games to save them until you needed the heal.

Yeah, but there's a difference between a day one patch that fixes a few bugs or adds a thing they couldn't finish before deadline and a game that's blatantly unfinished and needs the day one patch to function.
