how can we not talk about family
when family's all that we got?

Mega64 posted:

Hell, you want to see the difference an elite RB can make, just compare the Titans offense from before and after Henry went out. Defenses were worried about one person on the offense balling out, and it certainly wasn't loving Tannehill.

this applies to a lot of positions though. if you remove a lynchpin player in-season it’s gonna gently caress you up, absolutely. Tackles, QB, RB, even WR1. But the dropoff from Derrick Henry (who I agree is a football god) to Najee Harris or Austin Ekeler isn’t nearly as meaningful as going from Lamar Jackson to Jalen Hurts, or Quentin Nelson to (idk guards really, let’s just say) Ben Braden.

an elite RB just won’t alter your offense in the same way adding an elite tackle or receiver could in today’s nfl. like if you could choose between your team having Henry or Nuk I think you’d be hard pressed to justify picking Henry

1st: OT
2nd: DE
3rd: DL/OG
4th: OG
5th: TE (basically a receiver who can block a little)

The titans have an elite LT elite WR and elite HB and the hb being gone is the one that has caused major issues so what are you talking about

Line up 260lb linebackers at cornerback and have them stand right in front of the WR, grab 'em and throw 'em to the ground at the snap.

Can't run your route if you can't get off the line there twiggy.

Quarterback: high variance position. Best not to draft one too high as it's impossible to know whether their skills and mindset will translate from college

Runningback: grist for the mill. Best found on the Undrafted list as they will be the hungrier and most likely to prove themselves.

Tight End: Draft order depends on years spent playing basketball. If at all possible you should draft a pure basketball player and avoid football all together. This ensures they will have no enforced bad habits allowing you to create the ideal player from scratch.

Wide receiver: a team has, by last count, five or six wide receivers on the field at any one time. As such a high draft pick value is immediately diluted. Stick to the middle rounds if at all possible.

Offenseive lineman: Puts the team on their back literally, metaphorically, and metaphysically. First round no brainers. They are the only player to have "offensive" in their job title because they are as such keys to the offense.

you also need like 5 linemen and 3 wrs for many formations, and there are only so many athletes at those positions, which require more unlikely body types. There are just a lot of average height guys who are really athletic, and you only need a couple of good rbs on your roster, so they're easy to replace.
