Netflix dropped a new, shorter season of Tiger King recently. This season follows up on some stuff that was started last season, such as Carol's husband, as well as the fallout of the show hitting it big during lockdown. This season is full of grifters, including lawyers, psychics, and internet detectives, all trying to get in on the hype.

Warning, this season continues to feature vivid descriptions of animal cruelty as well as animals being mistreated by piece of poo poo Libertarians, who are attracted to animals like a moth to a flame, apparently.

Nothing seemed really wrong with this season, the quality of the episodes don't seem any worse than the original ones, but man the moment has passed. The first one was just the biggest right thing at the right place to become this huge cultural thing everyone cared about. This feels like this is the same quality of content but with just no feeling I am going to talk scene by scene with everyone on earth who happen to be watching it at the exact same time, and without that it feels way less impactful.

Yeah, the magic of the first season seems to be gone since things are getting back to normal, but the trashy trailer park drama still remains. I just finished the last episode and I was really happy to see that as many animals as possible made it to sanctuaries. It was nice to see, after so many episodes of them in cages, tigers running free.

I came here to chew bubblegum and quote 'They Live', and I'm... at an impasse.
I skipped the second Carol episode, but then we were introduced to someone even crazier than Joe. Watching his magnificent self-destruction was wonderful.

It felt like bits bobs and cutting room floor stuff for the most part. But it was wild to see the national delusion that has occurred because of these episodes.

GOD'S FAVORITE CHAMPION
When the daughters fired the actual lawyer and put all their money into the internet detective and the psychic I was so pissed I wasted 2 episodes on this poo poo. How are people that age such colossal suckers? I bet they get all their medical advice from facebook vids and would actually fall for a nigerian prince scam. I was lowkey hoping they'd take the psychic to a fake death site first to test him.

We need more women in STEM, and by that, I mean skateboarding, television, esports, and magic.
The first season was such an interesting look into this super niche culture and group of people, and the shock factor of the stories and Joe Exotic in particular was just immense.

This second season suffers since Tim Stark is just a run-of-the-mill rear end in a top hat. Getting more info about Don Lewis was nice, and I don't regret watching it since it was interesting to get an update on this cast of psychos, but it was impossible for the second season to be as compelling and it didn't even come close.

I was a little disappointed that we didn't get a follow-up on the guy with the sex cult in South Carolina or whatever.

The shocking reveal at the end didn't seem to exonerate Joe at all. Jeff and Allen were working with the feds to build the murder for hire case on him. I guess they could try to build an entrapment case, but there is already tons of video from his show saying he wanted Carol dead, other people who said they were offered money to kill her, and there is even audio recordings of him talking about offering people money to kill her. So even if Allen lied (probably, if anything he is an unreliable witness) there should be enough proof that Joe tried to pay to have Carol murdered. Not to mention all the animal abuse charges.

The key piece of evidence was that Joe had given Allen the $3k to go to Florida and kill her, but now Allen says that Joe gave him the money to go home to SC instead, that's a real difference. The fact that he talked about it constantly isn't enough to convict or they would have had him years earlier.

It is crazy how much footage there is of him asking people to murder her in addition to the random people who report he jokingly asked them to do it.

As I read this I heard it in Stefon's voice and I personally think that's germane to the thread so I'm posting about it

He gets his own 3-episode season in December.
