I'll give both of these HMs. Akiyama and Sasadango was delightful. Higuchi and Ueno was really good with a great finish but it was hurt by the crowd not being allowed to cheer.

nth. I can't in good conscience give it less than MOTYC even though I was not a fan of the end. The majority of the match was tremendous. This is one of those "less is more" cases where the match would have been better if it was shorter

The last couple of matches have still been good but I was wondering if the added stipulations were a sign these guys were running out of ideas. I was wrong, they were just saving some amazing crazy rear end poo poo for the latter stages of the Best of 7. This was nuts.

I enjoyed it yes, but I didn't care for the chair spot when the Bucks hiffed chairs at Penta and Pac, and the OWA off the ramp just made me more concerned for Kenny and his health.

Once the 2023 thread is opened, this one will be closed. You can still talk about cool matches from 2022 (and earlier!) in the new thread, but you can't nominate them (and none of them will be recorded). AEW has had possibly the best year for MOTYC nominations of all time, but New Japan's own total is very impressive as well, especially considering a great deal of those matches happened on Clap-Only Shows. TJPW takes a solid third, ROH is back in contention thanks to Tony Khan's purchase, and JTO has managed a remarkable total given they only run sporadic shows. NOAH's great start to 2022 thanks to their joint show with New Japan doesn't appear to have borne fruit, DDT's low number is a disappointment, and most likely because Stardom runs its own isolated membership service that people would have to subscribe to ON TOP of New Japan (their business partner) or CyberAgent, they only managed a half nomination from a match on a joint New Japan show for a New Japan championship belt.

Either WWE has gotten better or less people (on the forums) are watching it, because they have a relatively low total compared to previous years. AEW also had more stinkers than usual, while perhaps the only thing that saved New Japan from a higher total considering the number of House of Torture matches they ran is that less people (on the forums) were watching their Clap Only Shows.

Point 1, Hayato may have forgotten wrestling is a work on his time off with cancer. Either that or someone between MUSASHI & Oosera stole his girlfriend. Particularly Oosera who got absolutely murdered on the finish

Point 2, Kazuki Hashimoto didn't get enough time in the ring today, but when he did appear it was good.

Point 3, Yasutaka Oosera was a really sympathetic underdog here. Really this match was about Oosera & Hayato.

Really good, albeit a bit gnarly at times.

There is nothing else in wrestling like this annual absolute loving nonsense that Michinoku Pro do. Chris Brookes as Ivan Drago is one of the less silly things. Sasuke continues his apparently unsuccessful attempt to end up in a wheelchair with the most bewildering & stupid bumps.

Is it good? Does it matter? It's essential viewing, wrestling as spectacle in the purest sense.
