Pretty good cards on both but the Starrcade main event is sealing the deal.

It's hard. Ric Flair can work with anyone, but Vader is a big fat piece of poo poo. Going to go for BB with Sting Vs Foley and Steamboat Vs Rude

Flair/Vader alone would get my vote in most cases, but I think I like the overall card of Beach Blast more.

beach blast is an above average show imho. Sting vs Cactus, Ricky vs Rick Iron man Match, steiners vs MVC and the 6 man are all way better than the top 4 of Starcade. Starcade is just the main event

Starcade is just the main event I'm not going to watch the show, but Regal vs Steamboat sounds like it should be fun, as does Austin vs Rhodes, & honestly Rude vs Bossman could be fun too. Obviously Nasty Boys vs Hawk & Sting going 29+ minutes is nightmarish sounding though

Going with SS 90 which was a very well booked show even if GAB 98 probably had some better matches.

Yeah, I'm basically always nostalgic for the 89/90 Survivor Series PPVs, and 90 is (as Numero6 said) a well booked show. Bash 98 definitely has some good looking matches in that undercard, though, this is the downside of the random seeding.

Was there ever a kayfabe reason the final match was 5 vs 3 (something like Tito refusing to team with Martel) or was it just a face/heel split without explanation?
|
# ? Feb 28, 2022 03:41 |
|
It was just faces vs. heels, but it's only now that I realize how weird it is that there was no kayfabe explanation.

It was all the survivors from the previous matches put together in a face vs. heel format.

Edward Mass posted:It was all the survivors from the previous matches put together in a face vs. heel format. No, everybody gets that, it's just that there was no in-story explanation for it. It's not like Gorilla Monsoon tells us that all the good guys will join together against all the bad guys, because they don't explicitly say that kind of thing on TV. So instead, while we the viewers perfectly understand why, there's no logic to why Ted Dibiase isn't on Hogan's team for the sake of making it a fair 4-on-4.

Starrcade has the typical late 90s WCW PPV issue of a strong undercard and a dogshit main event. SummerSlam has one bona fide classic in the main event - that's Bret v. Bulldog - and a solid hidden gem in the undercard (HBK vs Martel) but honestly, I'm not convinced you'd be missing much. Based on that, I've got to go with Starrcade 96, despite it's terrible main event, with the build being "Roddy Piper, dumbest man alive."

With a bit over a day left, it's all knotted up! C'mon, folks, which card do you prefer - dumb undercard with a great main event, or great undercard with a dumb main event?
