Every few years I'll talk to someone who espouses how great cold showers are for your health, I can't find any actual loving legitimate sources that suggests this is actually true. Is it true?

I have taken them in the past and while they can be refreshing they also loving suck rear end, OP. That's my clinical study on this topic. Now I just refuse to bathe in any way at all and I'm much happier.

Well a cold shower will give you hypothermia if you stay in it a while, and a warm shower won't, so I think warm wins on healthiness.

Heres a real answer If you have anxiety for example and you take a shower and then turn it to cold it can stimulate the parasympathetic response (iirc) through the vagal nerve reflex or whatever and help you calm down

I take a hot shower, but I have dry skin. I find that if you rinse off in water that is cold but not freezing it tightens up my skin holes that usually just let out a lot of moisture when hot.. then I can dry off like Brian but it seems tov make my skin less dry she the lotion works better

This is something I have only done a few times in my life. I even had to take a cold sponge bath once - trip switch blew and I had an electric shower and no hot water tank. I don't know if it has any health benefits but I will say that just putting on your socks afterwards when you walk out shivering is one of the most intense feelings. Have you ever been in the bath too long that it starts to get cold? You know that feeling when you turn the hot tap on to heat it up again? Imagine that x10.

I've done the Wim Hof breathing exercise quite a number of times and it really is quite invigorating so i think there's some truth in his program, but I'm too much of a pussy to take a cold shower every time or even often at all.

Just trying to imagine, throughout all time and space, being able to turn a faucet on and have warm water out of a hole in the wall of my dwelling that stays 70 degrees regardless of the temperature outside, not having a single consideration about the cost of the quantity or temperature of the water and thinking, I wish this could be a worse experience.

I used to have a shower head that had a bunch of LED lights on it that changed from blue to green to red depending on the temperature of the water, it was probably one of the coolest things ive ever owned, i just wish it could have been controlled by an app or something

My favorite kind of shower is a hot one when its kinda cold outside, with the window open, exhaust fan running, so when you get out of the shower, you're wet and kinda chilly, then your towel dries you off and you start to feel warm again.
