I remember trying this a long time ago, but I don't remember much about how the game played. I'd say choices 2 and b. I object to loot boxes on a personal level, and you've already done all you can for the standees. For the build, positioning looks key, so being able to boot enemies out of melee could cause some wasted turns on their side.
