hello,

I was wondering how you all feel about laptop sizes. as in which do you think is the best size? I think it is important to answer this question to make sure we can maintain reasonable stock levels for future orders.

Personally, I like 14” - it just seems like a good medium. I’ve used a 15” laptop in the past, but frankly I never really used the numpad and it was somewhat unwieldy. conversely 13” laptops seem small to me, and don’t really have enough screen real estate. (my eyes aren’t what they used to be :)

I have an 11” laptop at home, it’s quite small but could be really useful for taking notes during meetings or doing presentations. Could we do a CBR study on possibly adding these to the lineup?

Please get back to me with your ideas so I can compile them for the Inventory Team.

Respectfully,
Silver Alicorn

Team,

I also saw that Dell is offering a 21” laptop. seems darn impractical to me but it could be good for some of our power users. Maybe we should offer it as a special order?

Thanks, Silver

one of those long square bass cases imo. room in the lid for 2 monitors, plenty of space in the bottom for parts & keyboard & so forth.

hey there silver, the users are asking for i7 processors, 32GB of RAM, and a TB of storage. can you call up Elisabeth and get about 24 quotes for every iteration of screen size, cpu, memory and ssd? great thanks - I’ll review them next week and order an XPS anyways, at great expense.

sorry we need to trim it down to 2 models per size, standard and high end. if they want something else they can special order but they'll have to wait longer.

i was at an old job and one of the guys kept getting lost in the IT system and passed over for a new laptop for like 18 months and finally a VP wrote an angry email to IT telling them to get him "the best" laptop and they panicked and just bought him the most expensive one, which was one of those comedy lenovo 17" laptops with the little slide out monitor and the guy was just like :negative: cause what's he gonna do other than just fuckin live with it?

okay I understand the catalog is getting a bit cluttered and the Romanians down in engineering are muttering about the drivers being too big. I think that 13 and 15” screen size are most suitable. if I can’t have a surface pro then nobody can be happy

i told IT i needed a new linux laptop. they presented no options and promptly ordered a surface laptop, which (a) exists!? and (b) won't run linux without a custom kernel compile.

gj IT.

thankfully it has now been replaced with a thinkpad
