When I played Balance of Power I would always sponsor the Front de libération du Québec and then send my military up to Canada but the Soviets would go DEFCON 1 about it and the game would end, which seems inaccurate

Seems like the show just did it to evoke Godzilla and kaiju films in the destruction. But it would be funny if someone planned out a city with a lot of dummy military-only buildings that are used in the case of an invasion. Basically vertical embedded bunkers for urban warfare.
