It's exactly the same place as in the first chapter, just not cleaned up because of COVID.

My take:
It's better to talk, even if it hurts, instead of suffering silently, making up things in your mind and let things escalate? Some things are also not fixable, but you don't have to define yourself by them.

Seeing the Takopi doodle made Marina pause and lead to them talk about something they have in common. Shizuka now doesn't try to commit suicide and doesn't move away.
Azuma fights with his brother, which dethrones him as some unreachable goal to get his mother's affection and leads to him socializing with his classmates instead of idolizing Shizuka.

Takopii Did a Nier and removed himself for existence to give everyone else a happy ending. Everyone feels like the doodle looks familiar but they can't recall a name or explain why but it helps them feel better for some reason.

I just said he sacrificed his existence to give everyone a happy ending. The exact mechanics of how that happens are weird but Takopii was an alien from a planet with time travel technology, I couldn't tell you how exactly things work plot point to plot point.

So I'm confused about the takeaway. The characters talked it out and it looks like a net win for everyone, but secretly a nice person had to die? It's like the solution for the characters' problems wasn't zero-sum but there's a magical force that required death to make it happen, implying nothing good can happen without someone suffering? Just weird. Art style was nice at least.

The ending obv feels insanely forced or whatever but I enjoy the notion that just gaining a friend can solve so many issues that could have ended things horribly

think youre focusing too hard on the magic octopus and not how the chance to communicate and make a connection with each other gave them mutual support to help weather their lovely situations and stop the cycle of violence/abuse

Last Celebration

Ending: given the end of the last chapter, I interpreted it as Takopi going back in time and being a buddy to Marina like he was to Shizuka, but because he hosed with time too much he erased himself from their memories but not their hearts or whatever. I can kinda see why there wasn’t a montage of the Marina side of things but the ending feels a little abrupt without it.

previous or second or third previous chapter ended with him declaring that he was going to get in a fight with his brother. which, yeah, would make him happy because it would make him something other than a failure under the shadow of his brother

I dunno, it's all pretty hammy and blunt but given the subject matter and the medium I don't really see how the same story could be told. I'm glad I read it. I can't say it was a waste of time, or that it wasn't provocative or that it wasn't worth thinking about.

Takopi helps a depressed art student who is traumatized by a war he served to find a new purpose.

Sleep, rest, do your best.
Takopi’s original sin was coming back to happy planet. He exists as a sacrifice to create a connection between people to save them from
misery and that’s what he was supposed to do the first time. He also helped the kid stop living in his brother’s shadow but he had set that up before having to sacrifice himself.

That sure was an ending. It's a little jumbled I think, but I did like it.
It's funny how Takopi at the beginning kept telling everyone to talk it out and in the end his erasure from time meant people actually talk it out and bond over their collective misery.

I don't think this series is going to leave a lasting impression on me though. I'm not sure where or how, I but I feel like more could've been done with it.

To be honest things just got a bit over the top in a silly way quite early on so rather than taking a reasonable look at some serious topics things keep escalating until the main girl is kidnapping people and either mutilating them or (more likely based on the newspaper headlines) forcing them to vomit. The ending reads like the mangaka wrote themselves into a corner and needed an easy way to resolve things - except the child abuse never stops so it’s just like “if u have a friend u can move past it and heal”
