My mom would sometimes rent Solstice for me from the grocery store and I'd leave it on the title screen forever. I also recorded a lot of video game music and I'd listen to a tape of it when I was a kid all the time, some of these songs really are impressive for wrestling sounds from an NES chip I always loved the melody of the Magnet Man stage in Mega Man 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3jV31GyRmU Bionic Commando also had some really good ones and the remake that came out a while back (not the 3D one, but the "Rearmed" remake that is the same game as before but looks gorgeous) really honored the original music by just beefing it up a lot, it's great too! edit HECK YEAH I can still remember the stage this was from in the original and how it's foreboding but rockin at the same time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP8TURjR-Qk edit 2 or the main theme too, I really like the audio degradation he uses while staying true to the main theme. 4 pages in and no proper mention of Castlevania music? Truly shocking! A lot of the tracks from the first three games grew up to be so legendary that they pretty much were rearranged and rerecorded for every game that came after. Like so many things, it isn't quite all the same anymore. The limitless space and options have allowed everything to become bloated and overdone or orchestrated.
