What are the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and/or Canadian Championship? These two competitions are the tournaments to determine the best club, regardless of level of play, in their respective country. What this really means is any team, regardless of how good they are, can win a trophy. What's so important about these competitions? Other than the trophy, the winners of these competitions get access to the CONCACAF Champions League, where they will proceed to lose to a Mexican team in increasingly depressing fashion. Who gets to play? All professional teams are eligible for the competitions unless they are a reserve squad (I'm looking at you, los Dos); amateur and semi-pro teams must qualify in their respective leagues and competitions. How do the competitions work? Both competitions are single-leg knockout competitions. The U.S. Open Cup features 103 clubs, while this year's Canadian Championship features 13 clubs. They'll also determine the Canadian Champion for 2020 in a single match in June, because dammit we need a name on the trophy! The U.S. Open Cup's competition is staggered by the quality of team: First Round (USL League Two, NPSL, and other assorted amateur clubs enter) Second Round (USL Championship, USL League One, NISA, and MLS Next Pro clubs enter) Third Round (most MLS clubs enter) Fourth Round (MLS clubs playing in Champions League and four others enter) Then the Round of 16 onwards For the Canadian Championship, Toronto, Montreal, and Pacific get byes to the quarterfinals while the other ten clubs play in a preliminary round. The U.S. Open Cup is usually bracketed by geography, and draws happen every two rounds. The Canadian Championship's fixtures have all been set already. Where can I watch these games? The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is exclusivly on ESPN+, while OneSoccer hosts the Canadian Championship. When does this start? Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup: March 22 2022 Canadian Championship: May 10 2020 Canadian Championship: June 4

I'm watching the Hartford / Oyster Bay game, and this ref missed a red and a penalty so far, and we're not even 30 minutes in. Too bad no VAR, but I can completely understand why in these first round matchups.

Do over Ham posted:Suburban Pool Boys & Lawn Care Specialists FC. Because only the hired help is young enough and fit enough to play associate football at a competitive level; Village Boomers too busy driving around drunk on their golf carts and wife swapping to play and aren't allowed to have their children or younger relatives live in the community, so by dint of deductive logic, this The Villages team must be the hired help. This is my completely uninformed theory. Whenever I see The Villages referenced I get nostalgic flashbacks from The Prisoner TV series. The Villages coming to Al Lang in next round to play the Rowdies.
