https://giant.gfycat.com/RevolvingTerrificAmericancrow.mp4 We've done this before. Now there's interest in a new low poly animal thread . . . so, I hereby invite/challenge you to make some! And then post them, in case that wasn't clear. Use your 3d modeling program of choice, though perhaps this is a good time to give Blender a try? I took a quick survey of recent tutorials and this two-parter I shared in the last thread seems to still be among the best in terms of showing things step by step: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mT4XFJYq-4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=456-XCXG_D0 Here's one with no voiceover that shows the process of making several other animals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoHdA0Fvz74 Unless you keep up with the latest Blender releases, now is probably a good time to download the latest version (3.1) from blender.org. I've been using it for the past couple of weeks and so far so good. Blender's basic modeling capabilities and interface haven't changed much since version 2.8, but new releases generally include a host of bug fixes and speed improvements, why not take advantage of them? I definitely recommend spending a bit of time rounding up some good reference images. Even if you're going for a very stylized/unrealistic look, it's so much easier to start with realistic/lifelike proportions and distort them to your liking. If you're looking for a further challenge, why not create some low poly trees or plants or other vegetation to spice up your environment? Heck why not make a whole low poly scene? (By the way, feel free to google for other/better tutorials than the ones I'm linking). To start things off, I've whipped up a shark. This one proved to be more challenging than I expected (and I still feel like I could tweak a lot of stuff), so please don't feel frustrated if the process takes more time than you anticipate! Getting low poly stuff to look good definitely has an art to it. https://gfycat.com/jampackedadolescentbubblefish.webm |

Arghghghg, I opened Blender, messed around for a bit. Got incredibly intimidated and closed it. Still don't feel ready for tutorials on it. So I made some low poly byobflowers for everybody in After Effects which I am comfortable working inside of, in recognition of Spring and in support of your endeavors! https://i.imgur.com/9jTkSUL.mp4 |
