If I ever buy a next-gen console it'll probably be the new xbox because they'll be exclusive on the new Obsidian and Bethesda games. But eh...for the time being I'm comfortable just playing Skyrim, Cyberpunk, and the Mass Effect trilogy on my PS4. And my laptop can handle Crusader Kings 2 and Neverwitner Nights mods for the next couple of years. Think I'm set up for the time being.

I never understood the console wars thing. Every platform had a fuckload of games that were fun and enjoyable. So get any console, play the fun games and be happy. It doesn't really matter if you have an Xbox, playstation or Nintendos, there's always gonna be fun games. Just play the fun games and stop overthinking this poo poo. It's like every time someone starts talking about FLOPs (that aren't my dick coming out) I instantly just give up talking to them. I don't give a poo poo about that nerd fuckshit. I just wanna play a game.

Are console wars really a thing still? Back in the day they were informed by the belief that they all truly did represent an existential threat to each other, there were actual stakes involved, but the lineup hasn't changed in twenty years, I think we've established a peaceful coexistence. I think the last true "war" was the portables, and I think Nintendo was the only one really fighting it. Like, it was their personal mission to kill off Sony's portable line. And they eventually did it, too, so hey, good for them.

I found a stack of Atari 2600 games last year, I think it was like 35 games. I got 70 dollars for it on ebay. Was barely even worth shipping. Meanwhile Contra for NES that sold 11 billion copies fetches $100 loose on eBay. Atari had one "successful" console (that caused an entire crash in the market) and like 9 failed consoles. They couldn't even manage to stay relevant in the 80s. They sucked and they're never coming back. Anyway my point is that no one is nostalgic for Atari which is almost actually impressive because people get nostalgic for loving everything.
