I had a kid and it's been pretty good but it's not like I had expectations that I'd be going out or just doing things when I wanted. If you view the kid as getting in the way of poo poo instead of poo poo being a thing you can do when you are able to then you will have a bad time. Real talk: I had felt rather purposeless and depressed for a long while despite having what most people would call a pretty good life. I have friends, family, a good job, hobbies, a very cool wife, and I've always been pretty comfortable with myself. However I still felt like my existence was pointless. Those feelings stopped very suddenly upon the birth of my spawn. Little poo poo machine probably saved my life. YMMV. No, the child was not a response to those feelings. I wouldn't suggest people self medicate with babies... but like, they can do you some good and doom posting your way into deciding against them is potentially harmful both immediately to yourself and by denying the world a child not raised by loving lunatics.
