They finally manage to get someone to bite, and when it happens, they can now point to the excessive defensive response and say "I'm the victim here", completely ignoring the fact that this one steam community thing on its own "isn't targeted harassment" but when you combine it with everything else, it becomes "part of a targeted harassment campaign" because nothing happens in a vacuum without context. Why a corporate entity needs to hire an outside group to DEI its own script, I can't tell you, but it's their money, and them trying to avoid bad publicity/a lawsuit, and all on their own dime. I don't feel the need to defend the company getting harassed in any way, but I do feel the need to point out the group and members doing the harassing are pretty much the same people from last time, targeting offshoots of the same people from last time, and they carried that bullshit hangup through a loving pandemic. It's the same broken thinking that Elon has, but slightly more organized and with none of the money. Hardly the first time Square has done this, and done that to a version of Siren no less. In one version of FF6 she has her bare rear end flashing at the player, and the localized versions cover it up. And this was back in the 90s.

The main thing I know about him is that afterwards he founded the company that made Firefall, spent most of the budget on a weird bus and was ousted by the board for sheer incompetence. We came up with what we thought was a clever idea and dumped the dictionary from some Linux distro to use as our pool of words to type. We ran it through an algorithm to clean out all the slurs we could think of (turns out there's a surprising amount of slurs in Linux dictionaries), but we didn't get all of them. And of course when Total Biscuit played our game on his stream, the RNG immediately popped up some of those slurs we hadn't thought of. Having someone else go through the dictionary beforehand would've been great!

There's some stuff which makes everything grow including your organs so bodybuilders get weird looking stomachs (also heart attacks) but Elon is just an obese guy who puts on fat in weird places.

Part of the reason gamergate 1 was able to blow up outside online misogyny was because a lot of people already didn’t like games journalism for various reasons and various games journalists acted like weird pricks during that Mass effect ending blow up and other stupid stuff which made it easier to buy into the bullshit wailings of some angry dipshit about his kinda lovely ex. This doesn’t have that. It’s 20 years on and the remnants of gamergate have basically gone up into their own assholes with far right conspiracy poo poo.
